I've looked for cheery political news to report, but to be honest, could you find anything? Please tell me there was something!!
Moving on...
Whilst not cheery, it seems appropriate to honour, in the wake of the Appllo 11 50th Anniversary celebrations, Chris Craft, NASA's first flight director, who has died.
CW has confirmed that the Arrowverse crossover special this year "Crisis on Infinite Earths" will feature, appearances by amongst others, Tom Welling, Lynda Carter AND Burt Ward!! Hopefully this means we'll see that the Earths of Smallville, Wonder Woman and Batman 66 are all canon to the multiverse. (I could see them having Burt Ward's Dick Grayson now retired and mentoring a new Batman and Robin, and possibly mention the Adam West Batman's passing).
Brandon (Superman Returns) Routh is also confirmed to be playing Superman again, despite also being series regular Ray Palmer on "Legends of Tomorrow", no I have no idea how that will work either, but if any series can work out a way to do it, LoT is the one). Lynda Carter has been another character on Supergirl for a couple of years, but that seems less of a challenge to deal with.
Doom Patrol has been confirmed for a Season 2!! Alleluia and praise the cockroach!
Also Young Justice is confirmed for a Season 4!!
Miraculous Ladybug panel at SDCC included a clip introducing yet another new hero, the Dragon Miraculous wielding Ryuoko.
The "Picard" trailer looks AMAZING.
The "Cats" teaser dropped and has perhaps not been as well received as they might have hoped. I'm really not seeing that much of a problem myself. Once you accept that it's people playing cats, dressed up as cats and singing about being cats I have no real problem with them looking like cats, rather than people in 1980's leotards, and I love the music.
I watched the Netflix Knights of the Zodiac, and waffle on about it at some length here if you have interest/patience. Short version; Storytelling VERY compressed. It misses out on the main characters having been friends since early childhood and the fight scenes have been shortened too, so there's really no time for the emotional payoffs that the original could build up to.
Shaun is fine, not sexualised and treated as an equal. I'd still have preferred another character be genderflipped, but she's as good as I think you'll get if you're insisting on making the Andromeda Knight female.
It's not my Saint Seiya, but nor should it be, it's made some choices that intrigue me, and a few that baffle me, so I'll be interested to see where it goes on it's own terms.
Now excuse me, I'm off to do what all Brit's do in unexpected 31C heat and high humidity... drink tea, collapse into a sweaty heap and whine about how hot it is! Have a nice day!
