Firstly, I have to say I'm not a Spider-Man fan nor have I read any of the books recently.

Quesada, for all the bad things JMS ever did he gave us several good things as well. Quesada was a meh artist and an annoying EIC before he did this to Spider-Man so no real contributions to the fandom.

You know as much as he wants it to stick, it's not going to happen. Not anytime soon because let's face it this is the type of things fan will complain about forever and not forget in five years, I mean were still talking about the Clone Saga does he think people will forget Spider-man sold his marriage to the devil? I'm a huge Spider-man fan myself, and I won't let this one die no matter how much I try it's just so stupid and should be looked down upon because hell most of my non comic reading friends upon hearing about OMD said they were never picking up a Spider-man comic with that storyline hanging around.

Considering how much of JMS's run was about Peter and MJ's marriage and how much he wrote about the two, I don't think he's at all to blame.

Well, from what I understood, he was editorally mandated to do the story, and was doing it, but the other editorial mandates--like Harry returning and the organics being replaced for the shooters--didn't make sense to JMS' plan to do what he had to do. That's where the "it's magic, you don't have to explain it" thing came from.

And if they used that as the reason for Peter and MJ to break up, I could buy it--after that experience, MJ'd never want to be tied down again.

It is pouring salt in the wound, but I have to admit that's pretty clever. I'm surprised they haven't done that cover yet anyway, let alone a fan artist pulling it off.

It's covers like this that remind me that this could have honestly been a good story, if it had been a temporary change rather than the new status quo, if you got rid of the part where Peter willingly made his deal with the devil and instead the marriage was taken, if you had a series of issues where Peter and Mary Jane went on with their separate and otherwise normal lives knowing something was missing and slowly realizing what...it could be an epic romance! A love torn apart and their struggles to find each other again!

Instead, even though everyone knows it's going to be retconned eventually, we're not supposed to actually believe they're going to end up back together again, so I don't see the point in continually bringing it up. Either they're going to end up at least together again, if not necessarily married, which we know Quesada doesn't want and so isn't likely anytime soon, or they're not. Nobody believes he's willingly going to retcon this himself. Why does he keep teasing us that he will? What. Is. The point!

...That is a really pretty dress. Is that the one she actually wore, or just a random one? I don't have my Marvel Weddings trade on hand...

I say we take the WTF license of BND/OMD and run with it. Make MJ a raging slut. Have her sleep around with Beast, Wonder Man, even Black Panther just for the craziness of it all. Then have her cloned into a new Golbyn Queen who then has sultry sex with some of the Kraven Clan and Mystique. Yes... my God, it would be amazing. The total chaos.

I'm actually *glad* we're going to find out what happened, what everyone remembers and how it all fits together. I mean, ever since "New Ways To Die" and Peter thinking to himself how Norman Osborn *doesn't* know he's Spider-Man anymore, we've only got very slight hints on what happened. And how it ties into what everyone remembers from CIVIL WAR.

Well I'm certainly interested. And having finally decided to read all of BND for myself, there's... some really good material in there. I'm not sold on OMD existing at all, but BND? Yeah, I enjoy it. A lot. Some of the stories could have happened with MJ in there absolutely, but Peter is nowhere near being the slut people screech he is, and everyone seems really disappointed in the fact that he won't give his life direction and he's a horrible friend/relative/worker, etc. That's not Parker luck, that's the supporting cast being smart.
