This probably won't sit well but I think alot of the problem with the argumentative threads about whether or not something is offensive is the policy of encouraging users to call each other out. While yes someone making an offensive statement deserves to be reprimanded on their actions encouraging community members to be the ones doing it instead of the mod team who's responsibility it is to deal with discipline of offending members causes a more hostile atmosphere.
