Of course, I do tend to take Winick's Red Hood Jason as definitive characterization for post-resurrection Jason and I would hope he'd keep to that characterization here, so take this with a grain of salt, but I don't really see a problem with it. Jason's impulsive and loses his temper quickly, but he isn't an idiot. He saw something was up, uncovered the human trafficking ring, realized they were loading the kids up, and acted quickly to take out a guy experience'd shown he couldn't fight.
