Favorite Villain: Crocodile

Crocodile is the first truly BIG villain of One Piece. All the others had some element of danger, and Arlong may have been a gigantic piece of garbage, but Crocodile is the first one to truly do major damage to the crew and the first bad guy to do it in such a badass, smarmy way. There's a good reason I chose Mr. Capone as the cut picture. Crocodile and Capone are both old school gangsters.

Crocodile is one of the Seven Warlords of the Sea, super powerful pirates the government have put on the payroll to keep them out of their hair. Crocodile is also secretly the leader of Baroque Works, a secret agency bent on taking over the country of Alabasta in probably the most well thought out plan in the series up to that point.

Crocodile has the power of the Sand Sand Fruit, this means his body is totally made of sand and he can control sand as well. Being that he lives in the desert this makes him very very very powerful. He also can not be harmed by conventional weapons.





What makes him so awesome is that he has the entire population eating out of the palm of his hand, yet he does absolutely nothing but what he HAS to do to keep his status. He has got to beat pirates who try to mess up the country, it's part of his job and he constantly tells the people he gives no fuck about them but they love him anyway. He is so awesome.




He's stealing everything the town had taken by the pirates and they STILL love him. He just could not care less.




He's also a total smarmy douchebag. Look at that smirk. He knows they can't do shit to him.



He's also the first villain in the series to actually, flat out, defeat Luffy in a one on one battle. He absolutely SLAUGHTERS him. He only survives by a chance interference by Nico Robin (who is also totally awesome as all hell).

What makes Croc, and others like him so dangerous, is that most of them are effectively invincible.

See, Devil Fruits are separated into three categories. You got Paramecia fruits, these give you a single ability like slowing people down, stretching abilities, or other "Super powers". Zoan fruits allow a person to gain traits of and to become a certain animal, you got people who can turn into Tigers, Bulls, and Dinosaurs.

Finally you have Logia fruits, which allow a person to become an element based on what fruit they ate. Crocodile actually has a weaker fruit because it is possible to counteract it. You simply have to either get him wet, or wet your fists and you can hit him. Others are much less vulnerable like Akinu who is actually comprised of magma and finally Kizaru who has a body comprised of light essentially making him utterly invincible.
