So, [personal profile] protogarrett asked for someone to post the Teen Titans taking on Doctor Light, I was going to post it later in my History of Mia scans, because this is her first mission as a Teen Titan. But whatever, I'm fine with posting it sooner. So here we go.

Technically this starts in an issue of Green Arrow with Doctor Light creeping on Mia, but I won't post that because it's just one page. We'll start in Teen Titans 22 where Doctor Light has Green Arrow kidnapped.

Mia goes to the Titans Tower, she meets the Titans and stuff, and then they get a transmission.

So they all head to Philadelphia

So next in Teen Titans 23 They start fighting him

He manages to beat them, and takes Mia up to where he's got Ollie tied up.

Hawk and Dove come in at this point and try and fight, even though Roy told them to stay back, but like Holly's going to listen pssh. Sorry I can't show you it's actually pretty fun though.

So continued in Teen Titans 24 I wish I could post the whole thing because each of the Titans gets their shot and it's pretty cool but I can't. So sorry about that guys. Anyway...

Then "Batman" and "Batgirl" come and take Doctor Light away, really it's Slade and Rose, and they take him to the Society so yeah. And then Vic talks to Oliver about what the hell all that was about.

And at first Ollie is all like 'does it matter' and Vic's like 'if it endangers the lives of these kids hell yeah it does' and I'm like well freaking finally someone said it. Because seriously Justice League? Seriously? Wiping a rapists mind and then letting them be a villain for the Titans who are basically your kids some literally, what the fuck? They were very stupid when it came to everything to do with all that... Whatever, I've ranted about this to many times to do it again.

But yes, that was the Teen Titans taking on Doctor Light.

Thinking about it, yeah that is an enormously fucked up thing to do.

"Hmmmm we just caught Dr. Light raping Sue, let's mind wipe him then make him a villain in a teenage supergroup."

When Identity Crisis came out, I kept thinking of Doc Savage.

Doc Savage, the Man Of Bronze. He'd defeat a criminal, take him to a secret hospital in upstate New York, perform some surgery on his brain, and the crook would be a good and productive member of society.

I thought it was a pretty cool idea when I was eleven, even though I had troublesome questions about it.

I was immensely pissed off at pretty much everything IC did, no matter how well-told the story was. I really wish it had been an Elseworlds, because then we wouldn't have to deal with this... story arc.

One thing I never understood (from the fall out) is how many people who were not directly involved in the mind-wiping know about it now - we know J'onn, Wally and Wonder Woman (though apparently Superman knew but looked the other way). Nightwing has never brought it up even after he joined Hal Jordan in the Justice League. Oracle (aka former Batgirl) is BFF with Black Canary (one of the conspirators) and never brought it up about what happened to Batman. No other heroes than Batman (even within the Bat-Crew) ever seems to have a problem with Zatanna, who original mind-wipe was the catalyst (according to revisionist DC history) for the paranoiac Bat-jerk who kept files on everyone. Even Alfred - who did know - didn't treat Zee differently. Nor did Supes or WW (once she found about it). Considering how much everyone claims to have loved Sue, and how they ALL complain how Batman acts like a jerk and distrustful, one would think they would have some bones to pick with their "friends". But no, apparently, only Batman gets to have issues with the conspirators (who covered it up and lied about it for years).

The weird thing about Identity Crisis is that DC wants to still claim its this huge even in both company history and current continuity and yet doesn't face the ramifications of it. Heck, Barry was part of it and now that he's back (and in fact Barry voted FOR the mindwipes) he's never brought it up either. I really don't see how other heroes (especially those closest to Batman) don't have "issues" at least with those who were involved with helping to turn Bruce into an obsessed jerk who took it on his loved ones.

I didn't think Light was this bifg of a threat. One parademon blast killed him back in Suicide squad yet the teen 5titans attacks barely hurt him. wtf

On the one hand, that...person (for lack of a better word)....getting owned and the Titans all together.

On the other hand...the whole issue that lead to this. Hate to say it, but even though his accusations are way off the mark, he has a good point with dignity. I would have just killed him though, done away with him running around and the whole issue with the Titans. Me personally, I'd rather die than have my memories taken, and since...that person...seems to agree, why not oblige him?

Also, why didn't Raven envelope him into her soul-self like she does in the cartoons?

I enjoy an issue where a villain gets like this: cold, calculating, and knowing how to use his/her powers to utterly annihilate good guys.

Thanks sweettart1823, for posting. You rock my socks!

By the way, what does the mystery arrow do?

While the 'once a Titan, always a Titan' moment is pretty cool, I'm pretty sure there are some continuity glitches here. I mean, Duella Dent? Pantha and Baby Wildebeest? Weren't all three of them dead by this point? (Also, last time I checked, Duella was EXTREMELY out of favor with the Titans - officially, she never WAS a Titan. Why is she being accepted into their ranks so easily?)
Also, while the fight with Dr. Light is indeed epic, the ending is kind of blah. Basically, everybody fights him and then he gets the crap kicked out of him and he loses? How very original.

So much yuck here.
You know, I hate to say this, but there hasn't been much of Geoff Johns' work that's really stood out for me. And this, a continuation of Identity Crisis... ew.
