Obsidian recounts his history up to the "Prince of Darkness" storyline.




After stuttering, Mrs. Stoops asks about his sister, who's his only letter of reference. Todd says that she couldn't be there today, but points outside the window where Alan Scott and the rest of the JSA are. Alan tells her that Damon and Todd have the fullest support and recommendation of the Justice Society of America, and that they will make wonderful parents.



The rest of the JSA wait outside.

I actually liked this ish. Not this story, not Ted's story, but most of the others were pretty cool, and I'm usually annoyed at feel-good, just another old-school super-hero story, the kind we don't get anymore. So, yeah.

I loved that story, it's the first time we actually see Damon outside the Manhunter, I'm glad they are not only together but wanting to adopt. And we finally got a bit of a background story of how they met.

Anyway, while I love that scene when JSA showed up (bless you boys for trying go appear badass but this is neither time nor place) they should have just bring Superman. Still, if Green Lantern says you can adopt you CAN adopt. No respect for the elders these days...

Honestly, I can understand turning them down for adoption. I love and adore Obsidian, but being a super-hero isn't a really stable lifestyle, even when you're frikkin Superman. Given Obsidian's considerably more checkered history, I'd be reluctant to place a kid with him and his partner too.

Though, of course (upon second read through), I see it says that it's not because he's a super-hero. Wish it'd tell us why they were turned down (does it? I can't afford to buy comics till next month, so I gotta wait on this)

I think it's because of Todd's, um, unstable past.
By which I mean he went mental and crossed over to the dark side (his words, not mine).

He should have totally agree to whatever Dr Fate was proposig to do with that "spell".

yeah, it really seems like it should be the instability. Honestly I wondered why they'd even do something like this right after Obsidian's recent storylines. Then I realized that they've already introduced their future adopted kid.

I doubt there's an agency that would be foolish enough to even imply that it was down to them being gay.

Though that's a weird posing in the picture, he's demonstrating his powers manifesting to the woman, and ends up facing AWAY from both her and Damon, and considering the cape he's not even flashing his ass at them.

Maybe he transforms during some of their more kinkier sex. We know they're into roleplay, for example.

With all the orphaned kids showing up in the Batbooks this past decade...Spoiler's kid, Helena Kyle, Damian, Sin, Misfit...you'd think the super-hero community would work out their own intra-team adoption scheme for this kind of thing.

Let's not forget that originally Wendy Harris (of Wendy and Marvin fame) was postulated, in the Super friends comic, to be the niece of Harvey Harris, the detective who trained young Bruce Wayne in the art of detection, so she did view Bruce Wayne as an honorary uncle.

I feel like it's very important that Todd loses the undies a la Hal Jordan ASAP.

Sienkiewicz has a cool scratchy style. I like the leather jacket look on Todd.

Don't we know that in the future they do get a daughter they name after Jade (of course since that was a flash foward in a not much read cancelled title when Jenni was "dead" it may not count)?

Also (since I haven't read it) did they deal with Todd's Catholic faith? It was a big part of his life in Infinity Inc. and got him through his abusive upbringing, it would be just too predictable if he was just to drop it altogether with no qualms when he "came out" (especially since there are many Catholic Gay groups out there in reality).

They are not exactly loved by the hierarchy (understatement) but that's the kind of group I imagine Todd would belong to.
