Today is the sixth round of voting for the most memorable moments for females in DC history. And today's list has something for everyone! As a reminder, this is not the entire list of moments. There have been and are other polls. The scans here are not today's selection. There are 13 more at the link! Also I have slots open for 3 more memorable moments. So if anyone has anything they haven't mentioned that is very memorable (Max Lord neck snapping is on the list) let me know!
To see the list and vote go here.
And for legality, two of today's moments:
Wonder gives Batman the boot from the Hiketria

Chuck Dixon and Butch Guice launch a ship in Birds of Prey #21

Date: 2010-12-09 04:33 pm (UTC)I guess the DCU just wasn't ready back then for strong, independent lesbian characters who can kick ass. Or they didn't want their established characters tainted by "the gay". Whatever.

Date: 2010-12-09 04:52 pm (UTC)I mean, to have Dinah actually admit to being "almost jealous" of Jim Gordon because he can always make Babs smile? To have her mention Babs right alongside Ollie when she has goodbyes to say? Yeah, it might not be rubber stamped by the DC editors, but it's definitely there.
Plus, they do make each other happy (platonic or otherwise), which is more than either Dick Grayson or Ollie Queen could do for them.

Date: 2010-12-09 07:31 pm (UTC)However, this panel itself is Butch Guice, who - while IMO sometimes lacking in a proper sense of gesture - is a solid, skilled artist who to my knowledge has never been observed to trace anything for a comic, particularly not from porn mags.

Date: 2010-12-09 06:35 pm (UTC)What Guice intended, well, you have to ask him.

Date: 2010-12-09 08:15 pm (UTC)Babs and Dinah are the same as Ted and Booster. A deep romantic friendships, but I don't think it is the least bit sexual.

Date: 2010-12-09 09:21 pm (UTC)But hey, as long as she keeps dropping those gorgeous Babs/Dinah hints I don't care if she thinks they've both got the libidos and sexual preferences of bumblebees.

Date: 2010-12-10 05:18 am (UTC)I would also add Mia Dearden leaving her abusive pimp/ex-boyfriend (with a very nasty injury, I might add) and deciding to take Ollie's advice, which was checking out the Star City Youth Home.

Date: 2010-12-10 10:13 am (UTC)Which just goes to show his total noncomprehension of what the oath is actually about. Because the tradeoff for "oath-taker's protection" is "oath-giver's obedience"; had Diana accepted Bruce's oath, she could immediately have ordered him to leave Danny alone, and at that point, if he failed to obey her, the Furies would eat him. Obviously being the nonbeliever he is, it makes sense that he wouldn't really consider that an obstacle, but at the very least it should occur to him that if he breaks the terms she's free to as well and they're just right back where they started.
