I see Odin's pissed about Siege and Thor's not taking any shit.

I think Odin is pissed about EVERYTHING since Thor woke him back up. I kind of loved one of the recent Thor issues where he started screeching at little Loki and then him and Thor got into a "Stupid Old Man!/Stupid Son!" yelling match.

I think I feel the same way about this as I do about the Doctor Who fans clamouring for the return of the Time Lords.

Would having Odin back actually be that interesting compared to the stories that can be told because of his absence?

My thoughts exactly. As much as I can't stand what he's done at DC, JMS made some interesting changes to Thor, and Marvel seem as intent as possible on undoing them and/or dragging things into events. If we hadn't had Bendis wanting to childishly trash Asgard in Siege, I'd wager JMS would still be writing Thor now.

I don't know, I feel like Thor is the only thing JMS has gotten RIGHT in the past couple of years.

But I agree, JMS only left because of Bendis. Bendis should have been more respectful of another creator's work.

Wait, they're bringing back the Time Lords? I liked the Master in the new series, but bringing back more just negates the Time War!

Then again, I'm not far in the recent series, so I'll go sit in my corner and whisper "no more."

Let's just say that there was a vocal contingent of fans who kept going on about wanting to return the Time Lords (so the Doctor wouldn't be on his "I'm the last Time Lord" kick) and perhaps they learned to be careful what they wished for...

Wasn't there a Doctor Who 2-parter where he faced off against an evil Time Lord? I remember him being aged to the point where he looked like a small goblin.

That was the Master himself. Like the Doctor, he changes appearances whenever he regenerates. The fact that he came back in the midst of the Doctor's 'I'm alone' routine was made into a plot point, where the Doctor tried to appeal to the Master on the basis that they were the last two Time Lords alive.

This was eventually followed up by a plotline in the final Tennant episodes where the Time Lords very nearly came back for real, through a plot that made the Time President and his cohorts look very unsympathetic.

With Loki joining the good guys Thor lacks a Manipulative Family Member/Arch Enemy tm. I'm hoping thats what Odin was brought back for.

If so the stories might end up being worth it.

Maybe Marvel is trying to bring the status quo around to be more 'traditional' cause they're hoping to wrangle more readers once the movie comes out?
