Currently, I've only got Alexis Denisof and John Slattery as people who look like Phil Noto drew them.

For want of nothing better to do, I give you all the Phil Noto you can eat

I think I maybe like the colouring the best.

Good art though. Oh yes.

Most of those "Used as an illustration for an RPG book" are from D20 Modern.

One reason I will always treasure my copy of that book.

My first exposure to him as an artist in fact! I'm almost certain the ? picture with the woman in front of the windows is for the infiltrator prestige class.

It's a great game, if you can get into the classic D&D mindset.

It's a pretty good game even without a D&D mindset. I reread the stuff about 2 months ago, and kept thinking "Wow, these really are a great set of rules, sure there's some clunkers and missteps here or there, but with a good spit'n'polish, this could be a brilliant modular system." There've even been a couple of attempted polishes, M20, True20 . . .

That sort of painterly sensitivity (with the faded colours - more vintage than retro at this point) and the lovely stylised drawings. Am impressed.

The image above Hellgirl is for the Infiltrator Advanced Class from the D20 Modern Sourcebook. Incidentally, that was also my class the one and only time I ever played that game.

Imagine my delight when I recognized Noto's art on comic boards.

Noto is doing some awesome work on the Wolverine and Jubilee mini (and Kathryn Immonen's writing is less confusing than her Hellcat, Pixie, Runaways and Heralds stuff, so everyone's bringing their A-game).

I really love how Noto draws Pixie.

She's so cute!

This book is fantastic and I agree. He also draws Jubilee like a 17-year-old or teenage-ish girl, right down to the way she sits on a chair.

I thought the "Detective" was Renee Montoya when I saw it.

I lreally admire the way Noto draws women with waistlines that are almost realistic. They're all very slim, but you could infer the presence of internal organs in these ladies -- which is often not the case in comics art. And I love the way he's still able to make them look sexy and amazing, even without the 12-inch waistlines that you see so much of.

These are lovely, thanks for sharing!

My reaction to the Danger Girl illo was, "Wow, I like that so much better than J. Scott Campbell's version--these women look like they could actually exist!"

This, so much. I saw Campbell's covers for the Danger Girl/Army of Darkness crossover coming up soon, and I actually winced. His depiction of women was ridiculous back in the nineties, but they seem to have gotten way, way worse, somehow.

Amazing art. This is the caliber of art that can make even the shittiest of stories worth looking at. Not worth reading, mind you, but definitly looking.

How far is it up the nerd scale that I read 'Trans Am Champions' and immeadiatly though of the main cast of Gundam 00?

Why are we all not paying this man to draw sexy action ladies all the time for our pleasure?

If we can't find a scriptwriter, get him to do comic versions of the Avengers TV show. His style would be GORGEOUS for it and his Emma Peel would be SO HAWT.

OR a comic version of Modesty Blaize. I'd pre-order that.

OK, I've gotta ask - are those 'American Armaments' and 'Jenny Uberbot' pictures showing actual characters from actual comics? Because if so, they look awesome.
