idk, even when you remove the faces, those silhouettes still look off... it's got something to do with the cropping and underwhelming use of whitespace, i think. they managed to screw up silhouettes, my god.
Ok, still waiting for the posters to show up. All I see is the legal (and great!) Deadpool & Thor team up, and some poor DeviantArt attempts at X-men posters.
Yet another thing to make me go, "Hrrm" about this movie. The trailer and images and everything from it have all been very meh to me so far. And now we get crotchface posters. Brilliant.
Honestly? I suspect even I could do better than that. And I don't do digital art. Period. This icon *points* is the nicest thing I have ever drawn on a computer. And I could still do better than faded crotch-face with bad sillouettes. Which look like they were thrown together in ten minutes (no, I'm not even giving them the benefit of the doubt and saying fifteen like you). Although I'm sure you could do much, much better than either that or me. Especially if you actually, y'know, know how to use an art program properly *pokes Gimp with a stick and watches it billow smoke*. Eep.
That's the worst Teaser Poster design I've ever seen. I've seen direct-to-video cover artwork that have a lot more work put into them. Criterion Collection these are not.
God, are poster artists really becoming an extinct race in the industry? Just check out some of the artwork from these fellow film poster artists.
My god, those are terrible. The sad thing is, is that this was lesson #1 in the Photoshop class I'm in this semester. I have little to no hope left for this movie.
I'm not getting "crotchface" out of these so much as that they're putting the younger characters literally in the shadows of the older ones. McAvoy and Fassbender are pretty well known on their own merits already, do the producers really want to implicitly compare them to Stewart and McKellen?
In my home town's cinema in the UK, they've got the International posters up, which are much, much better..(I mean Gosh they have actual backgrounds!)
Although for some reason, the tag line on one of the UK posters annoys me. The whole "Before he was Magneto, he was Erik Lensherr" has the 80es fanboy in me screaming, no, no he was Magnus!. I dunno, Magneto never really felt like an Erik to me..
Damn, those are some ugly posters. Please tell me this is a spoof thrown together by a fan on Photoshop in ten or fifteen minutes for fun, which accidentally got mistaken for the real deal. Lie to me if you must.
