Captain America trailer now out!

This just up, the first "proper" trailer for Captain America....

And for legailty... a scene that probably won't be in the movie.. (and seeing their Bucky, that's a REAL shame! (Fond memories of Chris O'Donnell in Batman Forever who no sooner puts the costume on than BAM, tied, gagged and in a deathtrap! :) )

That's one of the most peculiar deathtraps I've ever seen in comics-- and that's saying something.

It does have that... "Okay, you haf two industrial meat tenderisers, bits of a lathe, a trapeze, a captive sidekick, unt twenty minutes before ze Red Skull expects you to have him in a deathtrap... GO" feel to it.

It's "Scrapheap Challenge" for sidekick-y deathtrap-age!

I'm improbably stoked for this. I'm not a huge Captain America fan, but this is hitting all the right notes as a trailer. I'm in.

Looks pretty good. To an extent, the story is very familiar, but the 1940s milieu makes it distinctive (compared to, say, the Green Lantern trailer, which, even though I like the character, seems to have nothing much new compared to every other superhero movie made in the last 10 years).

Hayley Atwell looks great in the period garb, though having seen Brideshead Revisited that doesn't surprise me.

Chris Evan's tiny CGI Gollum body is seven kinds of hilarious but it gives a nice contrast to the gleamig specimen of physical perfection that arises from the Science Sarcophagus (as if the five gallons of body lotion didn't do that already, methinks someone had a lot of fun on this set.)
The Background music is a bit irritating, but this looks like a big bowl of fun.

I seriously hate the look of almost everything in the trailer (aesthetically). But it's highly unlikely I'll ever see it, so as long as everyone else is pleased.

This looks good, but I sincerely hope they go with the "people are suffering, how can I do nothing? I want to help!" motivation for why he is so desperate to join the army.

I still cringe when I think of that terrible origin story that stated that Steve was desperate to join the army because his daddy had been a soldier too and isn't going to war awesome? >_>

I think I prefer Chris Evans with the goggles than the costume. He just looks so...mascot-y surrounded by all of the other brown-clad soldiers. Although one can argue for symbolism etc. etc.

Still ambivalent about this one. Just my WWII-related issues, but they're seriously being superseded by images of Chris Evans bare chested.

I'm pretty sure that if the term "eating crow" was taken to its literal conclusion, based on the fan reactions to the initial castings of Heath Ledger as the Joker and Evans as Steve Rogers, corvids would be well on their way to extinction. So I wouldn't feel too bad over the whole thing. After all, doesn't look like Evans is. >.>
