I know, right! Their logic is just so inflexible, I mean condeming a city by testing a person to kill their own family, and not lettting the city be even when they find that person with no sin just because he's lost faith (but really, through all he's been through, he was bound to) is just stupid. :p
I have to imagine that was the whole point--as the last issue of the cross-over showed, Michael had truly lost his mind at that moment, and wasn't serving God, but Ra's al Ghul.
I'm sorry they followed up on this plotpoint. Crazy Religious Nutzo Nun Maggie who has become her sister's nemesis is so cliche and a disservice to both the characters of Maggie Kyle and Selina Kyle (and not exactly a good service to those who have been through several psychological trauma). Must all the mentally damaged people in Gotham become villains? Couldn't they have left Maggie in the sanitarium or showing her regaining her life on her own terms? Much like Lucy Lane/Sam Lane for Lois & Clark, what is this thing DC has of late with turning formerly sane and loving civilian family members into villans?

I'm so with you on this.
Must all the mentally damaged people in Gotham become villains?
In a word? Yes. If you're weak enough to let traumatic events affect your day-to-day functioning in any meaningful way, then obviously you lack moral fibre and are destined for villainy. Also, professional help and therapy? Pfft, they're for pansies.
The truly strong transcend their trauma completely without any outside help (besides a few inspiring speeches from family/friends/butler), become kick-ass superheroes, and only dig up their pain every so often when they're in need of gratuitous angst-fodder.

Well, only if you also have some personal connection to the good guys. Otherwise there won't be any angst for them. Why else would Harvey Dent be friends with Bruce Wayne?
Also, formerly sane and loving family members become villains because Dan DiDio hates you, that's why.
That was ignored for most of her purple-suit series, until the last creative team brought Maggie back. Then, at the end, it was revealed that she was just a figment of Selina's imagination, but that retcon was itself retconned out by Brubaker a year later. Needless to say, Selina's history is a bit of a mess, which is why I find this complete timeline of Catwoman's origin from comics canon all the more impressive.
Yeah...sorry Maggie as a former nun you know that Suicide is the one sin you cannot be forgiven for so trying the 'Suicide by Sister' is a crappy way out if you REALLY want to end it.
Bet I'm missing some context here but the gist I'm getting is Maggie wants out...understandable given the crap she's been through...but due to her religion she can't commit suicide so she tries to get her sister to kill her? Oy...
Does anyone have scans of that Sylvia woman (I think that was her name?) who worked with Black Mask to torture Maggie, then she got shot dead by Holly or something
