Huh. Not a huge fan of the cape or the mask (seems a little too Eve Eden for me), but it is nice to see Miss Cain in a big book.

In her future appearance in Red Robin in a month or two, it seems that the mask is more of an extended domino deal, like the one Dr Hurt stole from the Batcave during RIP that used to belong to Bruce's dad.

Ill be the one to say it: glad Cass is back....ehhh about her being a direct agent of Bruce again. Call me nitpicky and a slave to the past...but a big theme of the ending of her book was going to be Cass finding her own path.

Of course the creative team could say "well in the time between her book ending and Batman Inc. she did do her own thing and decided that being a Bat was the best thing for her"...but we all know thats bullshit since about 95% of post-Batgirl material w/ Cass in it WAS bullshit.

Basically what im saying is that as in vain as it is, I REALLY WISH somebody would've kept her character progression in tune with where we last saw it. I wish somebody would've the given the concept of Cassandra Cain as in independent hero or whatever a shot.

That was all well and good, but she'd already gone back to working for Bruce long before this. She took up the Batgirl identity, again, and began training the person she was handing it over to.

Hey, at least it isn't Bliss. That stuff that Dr Death was making back in Cass' solo series that Roy Harper is currently on.

Though the one that Dr Death made was just made from chemicals extracted from general corpses, the one Roy's willingly on at the moment is made specifically from dead children.

Ok, but I'm really worried they're gonna be like "SEE SHE HAS A PLACE NOW" and then only give her panel-time once every 6 months or something in a random book. Boo.

I want to see her interacting with the gang again.

...Also not sure how I feel about Blackbat.

Now that they've decided what to do with her though it seems that she WILL be interacting with them more though.

Prior to this, and the set up in Red Robin a couple of months back, Cass only appeared in flashbacks and the like. Now that she's confirmed to be in charge of a city (a city that exists in real life, so Slade isn't likely to nuke this one to porridge this time), she now showing up more, presumably because now people know she's working for Bruce as a semi-independant contractor people now know where they stand when writing her.

That is, they don't have to write her wandering Europe in a campervan solving mysteries and beating up homages to those assholes from the Hostel movies, for example (though that would be cool, damn I hate those films), or have her back in mild-racist Dragon Lady supervillainess mode again.

As she has a now confirmed place in things, she's not only appearing in this, but also in Gates of Gotham (as a member of the main cast no less, not just a cameo) and in Red Robin.
