This issue had some great pacing, great black humour and great characterization. Oh and some great fanservice :)
I love this first panel. Jason looks like he's being grounded.

Jason has petitioned to go to regular prison. Bruce thinks Jason will be safer at Arkham because there are more enemies out to get Jason in prison. And it's where Bruce can keep an eye on him.
Jason is successful and ends up being transferred. However, his plan is to take down all the worst criminals from the inside.
Oh my, my, my what is this. What is this, indeed.
The most teeniest tiniest towel ever xD
So fanservice-y xD (Though March draws Jason built like a house, wtf)

And then, out in the yard.

Yes, he is reading Pride and Prejudice.

That is one seductive pose xD

Date: 2011-05-19 05:39 am (UTC)Yeah he doesn't look twenty..I mean I know some people around twenty that are rather built but he just looks thirty. Looks like that guy from Lost.
I'd like to see Marcus To draw this newer Jason, he's one of the current artists that I feel really has a feel at what different ages look like. He manages to make Tim in his Red Robin costume still look young while many other artists make him look like Dr. Mid-Nite and middle aged. Rafael Albequerque who did the Robin/Spoiler special and lots of Blue Beetle also does consistently age appropriate looks/builds for characters. He remember liking the way he drew both Spoiler in costume as well as Tim's all red Superboy Robin costume.
People forget Jason is young since he's been around since the eighties, maybe it's because they assume he technically came back shortly after his death and has been around in hiding since then until Hush and then Red Hood,
He died at 13, came back as 13, and Tim started being Robin at 13? Or was he younger...I'm forgetting. Eleven? Really young for all of them. I forget Damian is only ten.
The Bat timeline really sucks, is Tim officially even eighteen yet? I know Steph is supposed to be a bit older than him right, so her entering college is perfectly fine, and Cass is supposed to be a year or two older than her which makes Cass more of a peer to Jason in terms of age.
So age in youngest to oldest
Damian - Tim - Steph - Cass - Jason - Dick - Babs - Bruce
Right?

Date: 2011-05-19 06:12 am (UTC)I gotta wonder tho...why Pride & Prejudice? LOL, I'm trying to figure Jason's (or Winick's) thought process here. lol...
Tho I just caught it, only the beginning half the book is pencilled by Guillem March, the other half is done by Andre Basseni(sp?) I thought it looked a bit different after the shower scene....Both make very hot red head jasons tho. :)

Also what is with that beaver-man in the shower scene?

Date: 2011-05-19 02:05 pm (UTC)Annoyed that he's back to red hair (not that it looks bad on him here, I just like consistency and I keep thinking he's Roy), amused by his reading Pride & Prejudice, and I think the reunion with Bruce was a little...deflated?
IDK, all of the characterization felt a little weird to me, like it was rushed.

Yeah, this is definitely one of my criticisms with it, that there wasn't enough Bruce chat and it could have been longer. But that's what happens when you knock out a bunch of pages to hold the line at $2.99. I've been feeling the same way about the last three issues of Batman Inc., that everything has been squeezed in to a smaller space and feels more rushed.

Date: 2011-05-19 02:26 pm (UTC)I don't know how the Beaver died (was there a joke about Wally and Eddie Haskell in there somewhere?). But I wish Jason was like that in the prison yard thing all the time: Ok, so people die when Jason's around, but he's never directly responsible ... or is he? :D
no subject
Date: 2011-05-19 06:59 pm (UTC)There was no The Beav joke! He was "thought" to have committed suicide in his cell, but we as the reader knew Jason was responsible. He later admits in in the end. And yeah. that's basically it. I mean the warden seemed pretty incompetent, but there were numerous suspicious deaths --- and then of course, the end when Dick finally calls the warden.

Date: 2011-05-19 05:17 pm (UTC)I kinda thought Bruce was an epic tool in this though... the two panels on top of each other where Jason asks how he is and his face just kinda falls when he ignores him. :( DAMNIT BRUCE.
Oh, and those were strange looking people breaking him out of jail. I don't suppose we're supposed to know them from anywhere?
no subject
Date: 2011-05-19 05:25 pm (UTC)I think he's just trying to keep distance between them because any kind of intimacy might make things even more diffcult for him to deal with emotionally. Weirdly, I even got the impression that Jason kind of understood that, and could accept it even if he didn't like it. I'm hesitant to say Jason's "grown" as a person, but he definitely seems calmer, happier and more mature than he ever has been since his return.
He's still a very bad guy though. :D

Date: 2011-05-19 05:28 pm (UTC)But I like that Jason finds being at Arkham insulting, even though it wasn't (originally) Bruce's idea.

Date: 2011-05-19 10:26 pm (UTC)For the other inmates, yes, it's much safer to have Jason in Arkham.
