This reminds me, I just read the issue of Spectacular Spider-Man where J.M. DeMatteis returned to the title directly after the deaths of Ben Reilly and Peter and MJ's baby.

The story was about Peter and MJ dealing with their loss while returning back to their old lives, and DeMatteis eventually devoted several wonderful, wordless pages to the two of them swinging through New York, laughing, holding one another, and then finally kissing atop a building overlooking the entire city. It was a stunningly moving sequence, and a reminder of why they were such a vibrant, wonderful, and god damn realistic depiction of a relationship, especially in the hands of a writer like DeMatteis.

I don't really have a point in bringing this up. It just came to mind.

The fact that they are PUSHING Carlie in our faces trying to make her "Peter's Perfect Love" is what everyone is angry at. by now, most us are past the whole MJ thing. they will get back togetehr eventually, but its the fact that they are practically force feeding us Carlie that bothers us.

most people liked the "sorta" relationship he had with Ms marvel. and others, because they were not forced at us. here marvel is taking every opportunity to show us "HEY GUYZ SHE"S PERFECT! EVEN MJ LIKES HER! LOL!"

I personally like Ramos. He's scribbly and super-deformed but he has a great sense of energy and people show a lot of emotion. But I can certainly see other people hating It.
He's a "love him or hate him" kind of artist.

I know this is probably a doomed comment but... It's not as if this is anything new. They did the same thing (with added character derailment) when they broke up Peter and Felicia to have him marry MJ. (right along with the "MJ is SO much better for him!")

Which yeah, doesen't make this any less annoying, but this isn't new by any means. At least they didn't turn MJ crazy and/or evil(er)

Yes but the Peter/Felica relationship was shown from the beginning to be bad for Peter and there was literally years of forshadowing before the proposal.

You know, this page reminds me of the scene from Amazing Spider-Man #652 that was posted here not that long ago, in which Mary Jane gets momentarily jealous over the fact that Peter "finally" seems to have his act to together and is doing so with Carlie instead of her and was unable do that the whole time they were together. That's the same feeling I'm getting here, even though there are no captions or word balloons yet. In that, when MJ sees Peter and Carlie swinging together all happy and lovey-dovey, it starts to finally dawn on her that she may have made a mistake in letting Peter go and not take him back when she had the chance. Because now she sees that, even though her and Peter are still friends who still care about each other a great deal and whom he can confide in, she's less a part of his life than she used to be.

At least that's what I hope this scene is trying to convey and besides, considering how this is just is supposed to be a scene part 2 of Spider-Island, I'm sure this momentary happiness Peter is having is going to be short-lived, not to mention I also have a feeling Carlie's stint with spider-powers is going to be short-lived. I have lost interest with carlie after that scenario with her dad, she went from promising cop to chick who yells a lot and is pushy. You railroad a guy into dating you, and then suddenly start catching a fit when he is not that attentive(the exact same stuff he did that made him hesitate asking you out).

Another thing I will not lie I just like MJ a lot more, I hate how DS plays her off as dumb. She is generally more entertaing, they have more history, gets along better with aunt may, was a lot easier to take around other super heroes. Honestly MJ is a model so she is not the type to get star struck, I am waiting for the awkward face palm when/if carlie meets the avengers and opens her mouth and introduces them to the dialouge we have been fed.

Lastly and this may be because i'm a guy partial to Red Heads MJ looks better. No matter how many times they change carlie's look(and she shapeshits a lot, someone needs to write a fanfic where it turns out peter is dating mystique) she always looks like A) like she is way older then Peter, B)just came out of the rain) C)Trying way to hard with the nerd girl look that it borders on tacky, and D)Plain. Give her some substance DS, all of those adds toute you as a good writer prove it.

Is it really so bad that Carlie Cooper is written as the "perfect girlfriend" for Peter Parker? If a writer (or a collection of writers and editors) want to create a new character that will be a romantic interest for an established character, that new character will be written to be "a good romantic interest" for said character. Carlie as a character that makes sense as Peter Parker's girlfriend is the point. Are most fans upset because Carlie makes *too* much sense as Peter's girlfriend, or is there a perception that Slott and Co. are "shoving her down our throats"?

I just sometimes I feel like I'm missing something when it comes to the Carlie-hate. Are we supposed to hate her since she's not Mary Jane?

Well, she's not MJ, so that's a strike. She's part of the post-OMD era, which is evil, stupid, part of the devil, JoeQ signed off on it, and lots of other nasty bitter things, so that's another strike. She is shown kissing Peter Parker, a position MJ isn't doing, so that's a strike.

Personally, I like to think Slott writes these scenes just to piss off Scans_Daily. It's amusing, either way.

They have just shared a quick titter over a joke while Mary Jane looked for implements that she could use in a showy suicide when, in a shocking turn of events a fat man with a Wolf T-Shirt slams into a billboard while swinging on a webstrand~

Oh boy, the old PArker luck comes up again!" ~says Peter, in a way that would make Stan Lee grin if he wasn't already utterly insane after an overdose of Striperella brand Cocaine tm~

"You do realize you've been shouting out loud for the past 5 minutes."

~MJ says this while observing that the building they're currently standing near would be a good spot to jump off if PEter kept talking~

"Oh no, now MJ heard me! Oh boy if I don't think of something soon, I'll be in the soup!"

".....Who says in the soup anymore besides people who still watch General Hospital?"

"MJ has currently decided that killing herself, and possibly going to hell and dealing with that dickbag that stole her marriage, and her non idiot husband away from her, was the greater of two evils, the lesser of which began to speak now~

"Honey, what is this jar of ...milky white liquid?"

Thiiiiiiis. OMG. I'm nearly at the point to declare how she is drawn in the issue where she has the best characterization to be the canon appearance, and simply decree that anyone who draws her any other way after accounting for different art styles is doing it wrong. Because this got old a whole long time ago. Yeesh.
