Power Girl Annual - Convention preview

Yes, I posted this before. But that was just the cover. This is an actual preview of the comic, and thanks to ComicBookResources , we can get to see the fan-girl fun.



This one is especially fitting, since this coming weekend will be a chance to mingle and share the love as fellow fans of the craft. And it lightly brushes all the gentle heart strings in me so that I can enjoy the Comic Con.



Every kid's (under 10's) dream..... the powers of your hero.

But they're also appearing in front of their fellow fans, and if you can pull off *obscure costume* and they don't recognize it ("Oh, it's clearly the version from blahblahblah) then you win.

That's my understanding of the mindset, at least.

To be fair, have you SEEN some of the stuff Karen's worn back in the day? Yeesh, and you people think some of these new redesigns are bad? Nothing compared to her 90s sharp blue shoulder-pad/bandanna look--NOTHING.

Or even just showing different levels of craftsmanship. Definitely a missed opportunity to make the page a little more varied and funny. Oh well, it's still very cute.

I was the same way at PAX in 09. Saw that Wil Wheaton was signing so I got in his line. Was totally gonna be all cool and collected and geek with the man. Got to his table and all I could do was go: "OMGILOVEYOUWILWHEATON"

I met TM Revolution (jpop star) at Otakon one year. I had one of his photobooks in hand and I was rehearsing what I was going to say to him in Japanese.

When I got up to the front, I babbled something ridiculous out and he blinked, then grinned and said I was "adorable and funny and (then he saw what I was holding to sign) OH GOD WHERE DID YOU GET THIS BOOK I'm So embarassed that people still find these" and he was cracking up as he signed it and I may have almost passed out with the happy.

Good times.

After a few years of standing tongue-tied and awkward at con tables, one year I finally gave up and decided to embrace my lack of eloquence.

I carried a small sign which said on one side "Hello. I have a tendency to become mute and/or monosyllabic in the presence of awesome and thus may be unable to tell you how awesome you are." On the other side it said "Would you sign this for me, please?" I also put post-it messages on the items to be signed, saying why I loved them.

It went over really well. Well, mostly. Claremont kinda looked at me funny. But Jill Thompson took cell-phone pictures of all her post-its. :-)

OMG So i saw her name was Rana (thoughtit was Rani:) then i saw the convention center floating in space and ithought (for a quick second) that it was the Tardis!.... (i think i might have doctor who on thebrain)

Nope, the floating convention center reminded me of the Tardis too...then I looked and saw it wasn't purple or as tall and skinny.

And I've only seen 1 Doctor Who episode.

I would have loved this more if they weren't all girls with 'perfect' bodies (and totally store bought costumes :).
