So does he shout "Transmute!" or "Bird ON!" as the wings pop out. (And I wonder who will be the first to remember where those terms came from)

Y'know, I think I like that look without the strap'n'crap of the full costume... Just throw in a utility belt and the R symbol and I could learn to like it a lot, alas, we're not going down that road...
But who is this?

Dramatic, if nothing else. Interesting that she now seems to have a transformation effect, does she slam her gauntlets together like Rick Jones/Mar-vell (or indeed, the Masterforce Headmaster Jr.'s ) or might she have some sort of illusion ability in her arsenal now?
And apparently the "Four Robin's in five years" won't actually the case (Sorry, but Steph as Robin is still out of continuity), as Batman and Robin(s) will have been operating covertly in Gotham for some years before Superman becomes the first superhuman to "go public" five years ago.

I tried to be accurate, but even with the preview images it's kinda hard to tell what the outfit looks like.

Date: 2011-07-24 03:32 am (UTC)Seriously? Seriously? It's not bad enough that they diss their female characters, now we're on to mocking their female fans? You know, the ones who buy their f*cking comics with our female money... Assholes.
I'd be very interested to hear more.

Date: 2011-07-24 03:39 am (UTC)Yours is nice and clean, Auggie; to be clear, it's the DC artists I mock.

Date: 2011-07-24 03:47 am (UTC)That is what the Red Robin suit should look like. Wings notwithstanding, and really I don't mind the wings, I think it's kind of cool. OK, they're dorky looking, but I think having wings is kind of cool.
I do like the musculature on Cassie; all the power females should look like that.

Date: 2011-07-24 03:59 am (UTC)They're being very hostile towards their female fans and other fans who worry about these things, even though we have EVERY right to feel upset.
Also, Dan Didio claims that DC has the best percentage of starring female character in books. WHICH. IS. MISSING. THE. POINT.
The SAME POINT they are missing by implying that the Atom is going to be Ryan Choi again when a fan asked why there weren't any Asian characters.
And then when the same fan asked why DC doesn't hire more female creators, Didio says, GET THIS, something like "DC hires the best talent they can". Which, OF COURSE, implies that the huge crop of talent from female creators out there is not GOOD ENOUGH for grand old DC.

Date: 2011-07-24 04:00 am (UTC)When was this? I didn't hear any of that at all. In fact, in a panel where he was in it and a question about female creators, he asked the crowd if there was any women there who would want to write or draw for DC Comics, and when he got a few cheers, he said, "Well, send your stuff in!"

Date: 2011-07-24 05:50 am (UTC)Because, to DC, DIVERSITY! is not about creating role models, or more accurately reflecting our modern society, or creating strong, developed characters that aren't confined by the moralities of the Silver Age. No, to DC, Diversity is about tokenism, and quotas, and pretending to be progressive so you can get press.
