As much as the Guardians are detestable, there is a certain sense of logic to why they are acting so... crazed. In the last (let's just say) 5 years, they have had more crap happen, not only to them & the Corps, but the entire universe. They've had the whole Corps destroyed, had things they hoped never to happen not only happen (rival Corps, Blackest Night/Brightest Day, A WEAPON THEY MADE ESPECIALLY NOT TO KILL THEM, KILL A BEING THAT IS BIOLOGICALLY THEM), but happen within such a short time that, to them, it's almost unbelieveable. All they can do is try to keep their shit together, in the best way they can, which happens to be... this. There's a certain amount of humanity in their actions, as they try their best to make sense of a universe that, to them, is spiralling out of control.

I don't know. It feels more like a group that's trying to ignore changes in reality and essentially has become a dictatorship out of good intent. I mean, when's the last time a Guardian who isn't Ganthet or Sayd do something that was actually sensible or that would actually help keep the peace between the Corps?

Really, from the fact that there's gonna be a New Guardians series, I was expecting the Guardians to die at the end of War of the Green Lanterns. Instead, we're gonna have both New Guardians and Old, Dickhole Guardians?

If you remember in the late 80s early 90s Tom "Pieface" Kalamaku(sp) Gloss and a few others were chosen as New Guardians and lived on an island on Earth. They were alive when the Old Guardians were around as well. It just seems like instead of having random and weird powers you now have ringslingers.

actually, Johns said that Hal Jordan is still very much a part of "Green Lantern" the series. his relationship to the lanterns, the ccorps, the guardians *rat bastards* and Sinestro will still be explored

Wait. . . what if someone did a story where the Guardians dickery IS a multiversal constant, but the only thing keeping the entire multiverse from slipping into chaos and destruction and/or being as big a dick as they are, a balance of dickery if you will.

Why is anybody even surprised? The Guardians could be well-written, but most writers only know how to write them as incredibly one-dimensional draconion villians. I don't get the rage or frustation, this is so boring and completely expected.

I think this is outrage based on exasperation. This is the DCnU, all the things they could've changed, all the mistakes they could've made right, and they're falling head first into one of these annoying pitfalls.

They had the opportunity to rectify things, but no.

Keep in mind, I've never read GL and even on SD it's a big day when I so much as skim, so it's just a theory.
