I've mentioned already some of the cool things that I've found through digital comics and the great way that comixology lets you download previews and samples of books for as cheap as free.

There's a lot of good books out there and the samples make it easier to find them. Yes, I've picked up some dross and it's also easier to find them and weed them out, since there's no cost or storage commitment in getting the books.

With the Zuda books, which I'm working through, it costs 99c an issue. That's 61p in sterling (or just more than the cost of a post-training Boost from the vending machine)

Azure is about human society after an apocalypse event. The lead lives under the sea and has had no human contact for years, until she gets a blip on her radar. I've only read issue #1, and it's intrigued me so far. I'll buy #2 and see what I think of it. #1 did have this lovely page.

Cost for the whole series: $4.95

I've read all of this and really enjoyed it. It feels a bit like Chew in that it's taken something ordinary and everyday and put an interesting spin on it. We start with Mel, the PA to a fading musician.

Euterpe is an actual muse.

And now this woman has the melody to the greatest song in the world in her head, and people know that she has it. An ad agency, a politician and a church are all after the song, which they can put their own words to. It's only 3 issues long, and the first one is free.
Cost for the whole series: $1.98

The last panel might have had more impact if I hadn't played through the melody. It's something short of the greatest song of all time.

They really should have done some visually complex stuff, like Agatha's heterodyning in Girl Genius. It is harder to immediately play in your head, for the musically inclined, and it looks impressive.

This is not the greatest song in the world. No. This is just a Tribute.

Comixology needs to develop a Mac OS or PC app NOW. I hate trying to read through the internet browser.

Yeah, I do have an ipad, but it's so much smaller than my nice big laptop screen.

Honestly, I'd rather read on my iPad than my desktop screen. It's got more of a "I'm holding a book" feel, and the size is more appropriate to comics, close to the real thing.

Oh, ipads/tablets are the bees knees and I'm glad they're going after them! I just wish they would make a computer version of the program too. I just think a more universal iTunes style might help combat piracy. Right now it's far too easy to read illegal comics than legal ones, so anything that give paying customers better options is a good thing!

See, this definitely seems like a better model for industry sales and distribution. Creators were already shifting towards 6-8 issue story arcs for trade collections, and without so large a print run, they could lower costs on production.

While I don't want the print medium totally dead, the Big Two would benefit from not hard copy publishing all these huge crossovers with so many "tie-ins" to make things cost effective. A shift to cheaper online sales would be nice to see.

That's how I'm seeing it. From what I've been hearing, floppy sales have been flagging, while trades have been doing well. If the floppies start to fade in favour of a primarily digital model, those would feed into printed trades which I imagine will remain popular.

Agreed. They just need to lower the digital price to reflect the change. I'm sorry, but charging $3.99 when you're charing the same for the physical copy? Ridiculous. I'd be willing to pay no more than $1.99.

I refuse to have anything to do with Comixology till they start releasing files I can actually move around. Trusting the publishers to keep everything you have paid for available is a fools game.

Man, that last one.

Do I see a shiny demon on the horizon, there? (Played by Dave Grohl?)
