Greetings True Believers!

Well, what do you think of that?

Edit: I got to thinking and here is a question for my fellow S_Ders.

Think of a comic book character that has NOT been portrayed on the big screen and tell us which actor/actress/CGI robot should play them.

I get us started. He may have aged out of the role but Neil Patrick Harris as Speedball!

http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/113131-Christina-Hendricks-Wants-to-Be-Wonder-Woman

Odin bless any actor or actress going after comic book role but Christina, come on. You know what DC female character you're destined to play.

If there is any leading lady who could wear the boob-window with pride.

. . . I don't really see her as the athletic type necessary for Wonder Woman. Nor do I think she's tall enough, but whatever.

From: [personal profile] darkknightjrk
Which is partially why I thought a Golden Age version of WW might fit her better--back then, she was smaller, and while not as stacked as Hendricks, was certainly not as toned as she is in modern interpretations.

Yes, but most athletic types that would be visually appropriate for WW lack that important thing called *acting talent*.

Besides, it's not like Diana's level of strength is proportionate to the amount of muscle she has - though I suppose it makes it look more convincing if she's hefting cars or whatever. That said, neither Christopher Reeve nor Christian Bale had or have the overly ridiculous, muscular forms displayed in the comics, and both are physically convincing enough in their films, despite my distaste for Bale.

You know, maybe it's because of her playing a character from the 60s, but I totally see Hendricks as more of a Golden Age version of the character.

Overall, I think she could make for a good WW--she can definitely fill out the costume, and she is a mad awesome actress who would make the role sing.

Well, she's a better choice then Megan Fox. Then again, Michael J. Fox would be a better choice than Megan Fox.

Other actors to play roles? Hm.

-I always thought Steve Buscemi would make an AWESOMELY creepy Mad Hater.
-James Marsden as Jesse Custer (Preacher). This was talked about years ago, before the first X-Men movie. People said he looked too young. I'd say he's just about the right age, now.
-Neil Patrick Harris as The Flash (Wally).

oooh. I have Thoughts.

Either Gina Torres or Angelina Jolie as Wonderwoman. Sorry, Christina, but they've got this warrior vibe that I haven't seen from you. Maybe Oracle or Poison Ivy?

I'm a little in love with the idea of Zachary Levi as Nightwing!Dick Grayson. And I keep hearing that Alona Tal would be a great Stephanie Brown.

And I know we already have a cast Scarecrow, but I've always thought that Michael Emerson would do a creepily good job of portraying him.

From: [personal profile] omgwtflolbbqbye
I always though Angelina Jolie would have been the most obvious choice to play Wonder Woman if a WW movie were made in the last 10 years cause of her experience as an 'action girl', plus her celebrity baggage could be a plus in this instance, but at the same time, I wouldn't want to see her in the role just cause it's such an obvious choice... I think she's semi-retire now anyways.

I could easily see Gina Torres as a fantastic choice to play Hyppolita or Phillipus though.

While I wouldn't mind seeing Christina Hendricks in the Wonder Woman outfit (yowza), I don't think she looks the part. As has been noted, she's not particularly athletic or muscular, something that is required for the role.

Lots of actors aren't muscular, or aren't as muscular, before they get that personal trainer paid for by the studio. Chris Hemsworth was in pretty excellent shape in the first place, but compare George Kirk to Thor and you see what I mean.

If we're doing this thing, I'll certainly chime in on my personal fans. Jon Hamm was a pitch perfect Lex Luthor in the Funny or Die skits, and even more so if he actually shaved his freakin' head.

Mr. Terrific I'd see now as perhaps Michael Jai White, or I used Dennis Haysbert in an RPG of mine. Haysbert may be a bit old to play Michael these days, but why not?

I haz PLENTY more if anybody's interested. Including my personal thought of Eric Dane as Catman. Shirtless, egg cooking McSteamy cutting up folk and punching lions? YAS PLEEZ.

Dennis Haysbert should be T'Challa!

From: [personal profile] steverodgers5
I've always thought Dennis Haysbert would make a great Black Panther. Either him or Denzel washington could really pull off that regal air that T'challa should have.

I definitely wouldn't want Wesley Snipes in the role. Even though I heard he was quite keen on it. Just because he's a name actor, doesn't mean he should get it. And after being Blade, It'd be like a repeat of Chris Evans getting Cap, even though he was already established as a fairly well known Marvel character, that I think he was much better suited to. Still wish they could have went with Nathan Fillion for Cap, (even though he's canadian!)

But quite often it's an actor renowned for films that gets these parts, rather than tv actors who might well have been a better fit. I've always believed that right from his LA Law days, Blair Underwood would have made a pitch perfect Rhodey in Iron Man. (And in the Event it didn't look like he'd aged all that much either) I don't think Terrence Howard OR Don Cheadle were particularly great choices there, sadly..
