It's late at night for me and most people, and none of the new shows on US TV amuse me. As I was surfing for entertainment I found this classic gem.

It's so hard to make comedy look so easy sometimes.

Have a laugh, carry on.

One the one hand, kudos to Watterson for having integrity. On the other hand, a cartoon series of Calvin and Hobbes could have been a contender for The Simpsons in its heyday.

I canceled my cable a couple months ago, don't miss it.

I've found Netflix/Hulu on the Roku much more appealing.

I am just annoyed that the season premier of Archer was so weak. Here's to better episodes in the future!

And it is always good to get some Calvin early in the morning. Reminds you life doesn't have to be cliche or raunchy to be funny.

Weak? I found it wonderful. You had Brock Sampson guest starring, how could it possibly be weak?

But you also need to keep in mind that it is only 1/3 of this early viewing we are getting of Season 3.

I hold every episode up to the standards set by the Kidnapping episode and the Zeppelin episode. That's ow good the show can be, and that's how good it should always be. But yes, I realize theyre trying to move plot forward, so I am waiting through the opener. And let's be honest, I am going to watch every episode anyway.

I would counter that Terms of Enrampagement would be a higher scale to hold to than the Zepplin episode but I do agree.

But not every episode can be THAT good. As long as it keeps the standard level of the majority of episodes it will be golden.

Well, the new seasons of Community, Parks & Rec, Raising Hope and Modern Family are still upcoming.

New season of How I Met Your Mother was a bit of a letdown so far. I think 2 Broke Girls has potential.

I really liked them, even though the "worst wedding ever" didn't quite live up to the in-episode hype.

I thought that Robin having feelings for Barney again has been so forced.

And the Beercules stuff just seemed to be treading old water. And Ted's just become such a jerk over the years, especially in the second episode, I can't really bring myself to cheer for him anymore.

Robin, while forced, was foreshadowed last season. I'm going to agree that that, while a great concept, was very poorly executed and I wish we would just move on.
I did cheer at the reveal at the end, but I couldn't help but facepalm while doing it. I was so happy, but I knew it was contrived and wrong.

Oh yeah it was definitely foreshadowed, but I hated it back then as well. I've been saying for months now that I don't want them getting back together.

Oh yeah I cheered for the reveal too. I just did not expect it, I mean I don't follow spoilers for the show so I don't know if it was rumored at all. But I just can't cheer for Ted himself, not after the way he was treating those two girls all episode. Frankly I think that whoever the mother ends up being is going to be too good for Ted.

You know, I think that this season is correct in pointing out the fact that Ted hasn't been in love with anyone but Zoe (whom we shall nevermore mention) for a long time.
Hopeless Romantic Ted was the Ted WE fell in love with, so I think putting him back on that track will make a lot of things better.

I think that Zoe may have been his most serious relationship since Stella (other than Karen), it's too bad she was so horrible.

I just really miss the guy who stole the blue french horn and danced on a roof for hours to make it rain.

You know, this might be part of the reason when I try to write my Phineas&Ferb/HIMYM fanfiction all I seem to get done is Robin Scherbatsky and Perry the Platypus fighting Dr. Doofenshmirtz.
Or it could just be the fact that that is the best thing you have heard all day/

I only watched Two Broke Girls for Kat Dennings and her fantastic breasts.

I really did not find anything else appealing about the show by the end of it.

I didn't go in with high expectations really.

Kat Dennings one liners were pretty funny, and she played off of Beth Behrs well.

At first I thought Behrs character would be completely helpless and vapid, because we've seen that type of character on so many other sitcoms. So I was pleasantly surprised to see that she was intelligent and opportunistic. It wasn't the greatest half hour of television, but I think it could be interesting.

Plus they have a horse in their backyard.

At least Community is coming back. And House looks like it will be delightful as usual.

But yeah, if the Emmys shhowed anything it's that comedy on television is sad mess. At least there's the Daily Show, Colbert Report, and Craig Ferguson.

I have a deep love for Modern Family, Community, and Parks and Rec. Other than that...

I know, not the best forum to bring it up in, but I hate the Big Bang Theory. I watched one episode and the laugh track found it much, much funnier than I did.

Ah, Calvin and Hobbes. Still the greatest.

I hated Big Bang Theory when it first aired. It felt more mean spirited than anything else.
Later in the first season I began to appreciate it.

Thanks for Calvin!

Haven't had TV in 15 years, except for 3 months last fall. Found out the only thing I'd missed was Avatar: the Last Airbender.

Nobody's even trying to put out a sitcom to compete with The Cosby Show in quality.

But the really sad part? The stupidest show of my childhood, Hee Haw, is now funnier than almost anything new. That's criminal.

Whilst appreciating The Cosby Show for the groundbreaking series it was, I could never really enjoy it that much, it had a tendency to veer into cloying sentimentality a little too often for my tastes.

I have to agree. My attitude toward it was always "More power to the folks making this uplifting and inspirational show! Now, is there anything actually entertaining on?"

I agree completely. I was speaking from a technical standpoint.

My parents hated all sitcoms (and almost all comedies) so I never developed the right mindset to enjoy them. The only sitcom I've ever liked was M.A.S.H.

Although I'm developing a fondness for The Addams Family. :)

Once again though, there's nothing comparable on TV today.

Oh The Addams Family is a work of genius, with some stellar casting sealing the deal.

I even have a soft spot for some of the Broadway version though it's not consistently dark enough for my liking.
