He never was. He's the original lantern, and therefore gets some special attention from fans, but in continuity no one treats him any differently then they do any other lantern, and Hal has made it clear that that's just the way he likes it.

Kyle and Dick have been physically very similar for a long time now (aside from eye colour), and I don't think I'd link Bruce or Dick to unshaven and slightly wild-haired as a look, well no more than most other heroes.

No, not their own personal rings but one taken from a member of each Corps. One Red Lantern died when his ring left him. A Star Sapphire almost died since she was in space when her ring left her but Fatality found her and saved her. A SC member died when his ring left him while he was killing Khunds and they killed him back. The Blue, Indigo and Orange weren't shown either way.

Hmmm...I hope no established Blue lost their's we've only had 4 so far and Sister Sercy hasn't even gotten page time yet.
