Supreme Meets Jack Kirby!
Nov. 30th, 2011 06:53 pmI know there are many fellow s_d members who loved Alan Moore's Supreme series from the late '90s. You all know how the story ended in a cliffhanger, the publisher going belly up before Moore's last issue came out, wrapping his run. You've probably heard how Erik Larsen is going to finally draw the final Moore-penned script. It's not Chris Sprouse, but it'll do! Frankly, I'm just hoping that's an excuse for new, quality TPBs.
But until that happens, here's a reminder of the last issue published, when Supreme had a chat with Jack freakin' Kirby!

Context: Supreme finds himself in some fantastic world which is really just an excuse for Rick Veitch to draw hundreds of Kirby-esque panels and figures, most of them inspired by real Kirby characters. It's a fun romp through his career, but what really gets me is the final conversation between Supreme and The King:

I'd love to know who Gibson is. But I think Moore is wrong about the 'Moultons.' I believe C.L. Moore started the archetype with Jirel of Joiry.
Anyway, this was one awesome sequence. I love how Kirby's face is drawn in all different ways. There's never a dull panel in this. I miss this comic book so much!

Date: 2011-11-30 07:58 pm (UTC)Ian Gibson was the first that came to mind, but he didn't really fit so I did a google and came up with Walter B. Gibson, of the Shadow fame.
