New Bane Poster Promises Spoilers

By all accounts this looks like it's shaping up to be a really great movie, with Bane being close in line with his comicbook counterpart (when said counterpart isn't being written as a mook, that is). Now all they have to do is get the alleged voice problems sorted (Hardy's Bane apparently has Vader breath and an odd accent, making him a little hard to understand), and they'll be set. :)

Pretty cool that the new Wayne Manor will be my local Wollaton Hall though. Woo, Nottingham represent! My guy even used to work in the museum there - he reckons it's haunted. :D

Heh, looking at the poster it looks like the title should read "The Dark Knight Falls" rather than "The Dark Knight Rises." The latter just looks ironic for what's actually presented there.

Still trying to figure out how exactly Selina Kyle is suppose to fit into this movie, but otherwise it looks like it's going to be epic.

Don't they always give Bane an "odd accent" in the animated adaptations? Henry Silva voiced him on the first animated series, and Hector Elizondo voiced him in "Mystery of Batwoman." In "The Batman," he was voiced by Joaquim de Almeida and Ron Perlman.

Not really--Bane is supposed to be from near South America, so it makes sense when Latin actors portray him. From what I'm hearing about this prologue, not only is Bane speaking in a semi-British accent, it's muffled by the mask and has a few filters under it, similar to Batman.

Oh Lord, we already have to put up with Bale's hilariously bad Batman voice, please don't tell me we are going to have a stupid Bane voice too.

I actually never thought the Bale Bat voice was all that bad--it sounded weird in places, but mostly it was when the dialogue was a little weird.

But hey, from what we're seeing and the rumors we're hearing, I think the idea of Bane here is to be a dark mirror of Bruce if he had stayed with the League of Shadows, so...maybe a little intentional?

Not to mention that this is still early footage--I imagine that they've played around with Bale's voice a bit (they didn't use the filters in Begins, as I recall), and while Nolan is a guy who really cares about his vision, I would have to imagine if NO ONE could understand what Bane was saying, he would make tweaks to make that a bit better.

Britain encompasses England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, and as there are different accents inbetween different regions within those countries (heck, even different accents within the towns and cities within the regions themselves), so saying "British" is really kind of massively vague.

Like saying someone has a North American accent, which technically would include not just the subdivisions of an American accent, but also the individual dialects of different parts of Mexico and Canada as well.

Britain comprises Scotland, England, and Wales; each one of those countries has a highly distinctive group of accents that couldn't be mistaken as belonging to any of the other countries.

100% of the time when someone describes someone else as having a "British accent," they have completely forgotten about the existence of Scotland and Wales and they actually just mean an English accent.

So they should say that, because Britain does not equal England.

Really loved Silva's take on Bane, for the little he was used. And that brief little bit in an apocryphal encounter, where Bruce just goes, "Bane..." "A pleasure you remember you me, Mr. Wayne." Chills.

With the exception of being able to see his mouth while he was masked, his costume was probably the closet to the comics as they have ever been for an animated show.
