In Generation Hope #14, Hope and the Lights found a mind-wiped (by Emma) Sebastian Shaw in Pakistan and brought him to Utopia.

He's welcomed with open arms, obviously.








Hope and Quentin Quire should hang out and hook up imho. Hot couple, Just Jared Jr material.

Other stuff is happening to the Lights that don't matter in this issue as well, btw.

For once I am on Hope's side here. The X-men currently are running around with Emma Frost, Magneto, and freaking Apocalypse. I really don't see how trying to rehabilitate a mind wiped Sebastian Shaw is any more dangerous or unlikely.

I mean wasn't the whole point of Danger's prison facility rehabilitation?

The first page talks about Shaw's crimes, including "distorting a young Jean Grey, ultimately unleashing the destructive Dark Phoenix Force inside her."

Ignoring how it wasn't "really" Jean, I'm pretty sure Emma had more of a hand in her corruption than Shaw did; wasn't she the one who helped Mastermind manipulate her?

I am just amazed how Generation Hope -of all things- has Emma's voice down pitch perfect, yet none of the other X-books do.
Marvel better put this guy on one of the main X-books, if they know what's good for them.

Why is Hope assuming that Emma's slept with every man on the planet? Because in the entire time she's known Emma (all two months or so), she's only ever seen Emma with Scott and turning down Namor's advances.

Hope is on super righteousness high road moral mode telling them not to judge Sebastian...after she judges Emma for an assumed number of sexual partners? I mean, fine, I thought "slut" was an insult too at her age, but the switch from dumb ass is just weird here.

I'm also confused as to why Emma looses it. Knowing what I do about the character, and how she's dressed, I don't really think she would give any fucks what people think of her sexuality, let alone allow herself to be shamed by a punk ass kid. I picture her with a dead pan reply of "orly? Hope, tell me, how many men HAVE I slept with? It's kind of gross you're keeping track, and let me assure you, you are an idiot and no way qualified to judge what number of partners can be used as a tool to insult other women. Well talk about Sebastian once you've grown the fuck up."

Her argument was they didn't want to give Shaw sanctuary even though they've given sanctuary to all the other mutants (including plenty of other supervillains) because he was one of Emma's exes.

Hope is incredibly naive, which is rooted to her main problem that she is very much new to this timeline. That lays her problem in this situation and argument, she has no experience with Shaw or mindwiped people.

Emma should've hit her in diamond form. I'm completely past the point of thinking Hope can be turned into an actual fleshed out character instead of a self-righteous (And now slut-shaming) fuck. The sooner Marvel ends her storyline the better.

I'm hoping Avengers vs X-Men will do that. I still think Hope actually came about from the Decimation and is where all of the mutant powers have gone considering the broad spectrum of her powers.

Emma did murder people and a horse. But at least she didn't telepathically control her teammates in order for Cable to be right about something. That's basically Hope's defense for mind-controlling her teammates. She would rather control their minds than have Cable's death be (somehow) meaningless. Yeah, I don't get it either. If Cable was wrong about Hope being special he was wrong about everything?

Emma did do some mind-control to protect Generation X from Onslaught, but that was more protecting them from a boring crossover and an enemy they couldn't fight than anything else.

Writing like this is why Emma Frost has gone from a character I had some investment in to one that I loathe. Emma can certainly be rattled, Emma can be petty, but she's not flipping graceless and she's not an easy mark. Hope should not have the verbal capacity to get under Emma's skin to the point that she'd lower herself to physical violence. Hope's high-school level slut-shaming should mean less than nothing to her. She should have half-a-dozen razor-sharp barbs ready to fire back with perfect poise and walk off leaving the time-displaced virgin sputtering.

In other news, whatever is in Utopia's water supply is still making Scott act an idiot.

Can we please speed the Phoenix event along so that Marvel can cancel this book already?

Why lie? I'm really enjoying Hope. She's pretty terrible and so teenagery and MISTAKEN all the time. So sure she's right! She's faulty enough that she feels like she has actual.. Effects on things? She feels like she's *happening* instead of coasting.

I hope she sticks around. I want to see her grow.
