Probably has to do with the movie coming out--besides, this Fury hasn't been shown to be anywhere near as much of a douchebag as Ultimate Fury was after a while.
Welp, I'm guessing this paves the way for killing Nick Fury, since they're doing this for the movie audience, and movie audiences might be confused by two Nick Furys of different race running around.
Any chance you could post the Serpent Society pages from issue 4 (I don't think any of that issue has been posted yet) and the last page of issue 3? I just found out they were in it and now my store only has the latest issue.
Almost like "Mephisto tempering the past to make it that Peter and MJ were never married in which they end up having nothing to barter with to make him changed the past making the whole story arc kinda non-existing yet still existing at the same time, let alone defying Marvel's time travel laws and the fact that the fact their not getting hitch somehow hardly changed anything except for a plotline that went nowhere but somehow got a dead man to come back and Peter losing a trait from his movie left unexplained" kinda of convenient
Just came back from the theatre after seeing the Avengers movie, so this warms up my heart quite a lot after the excellent role both of those characters played in the movie.
The sheer audacity of this move is absolutely breathtaking! We get to have our cake and eat it, too. If you can buy an "Infinity Formula," what's so hard about buying this? It's silly, batsh*t crazy idea, but that IS one of the things I love about comics. It's hardly an unprecedented new way to create a legacy character (Baron Zemo, anyone?), and I love it. We still have good old Nick out there, using the time he has left to settle some scores, with the real threat of his actual death out there; AND we have Fury back in the field as an agent, as he was when he was reintroduced into the Marvel Universe as Marvel 616's answer to the era of James Bond, The Man from U.N.C.L.E., and Mission: Impossible. As Captain Spock told Admiral James T. Kirk, "If I may be so bold, it was a mistake for you to accept promotion. Commanding a starship is your first, best destiny; anything else is a waste of material." Nick's best destiny is in the field. Pulling him into line with the look of Samuel L. Jackson in the film puts both the comics and the whole Avenger's franchise on more solid ground. Everybody wins.
So, Tony's ineffective "baby sitter" from the greatly flawed 2nd movie is now part of mainstream Marvel cannon, as well as being on a Avengers poster... good to know that ALL of the fans who wanted THAT got it...
Interesting. We'll see how this goes. But... I liked having the original Fury around in 616. ...Doesn't even matter anymore, I follow so few titles lately. ._. Perhaps when it hits trade. I also remember why I decided to avoid certain websites until I get to see the movie. *Puts them on a temporary black list*
So next week, I too will get to see the movie, YJ will get another new episode (I like next week's episode title) and my favourite comic book shop will participate in Free Comic Book Day events. Next week better be as great as it sounds to me.
1. I honest to god enjoyed this series. 2. Coulson looks like a badass in his suit. 3. I thought this was an awesome way to integrate the characters. 4. Does this mean Ultimate Marcus Johnson is white?
Wow, Marvel heroes have alot of hammy-downs. Spider-Girl had Ben Riley's SPidey suit... Ant-Man to Ant-Man... Peter's new suits to Cain... THe Iron Spider Suits passed to 3 clones of this one guy who had hardly ANY connection to the wall-crlawer...
I bet if she existed in this universe; everyone, from Squirrel Girl to Dr. Doom, would have worn that battle suit Kim Possible had after the movie...
I wouldn't have a problem with this if it didn't reek of being a forced attempt at having the comics verse and movie-verse be congruent with each other.
Wait, I thought Fury didn't need Infinity Formula doses anymore. Something about how his body has started naturally producing it after so many years. I think they even had a big storyline about it. Some villain caught him, and tried to...juice him, I guess.
Why? I LIKE Ultimate Fury, at least in Ultimate Spider-man and Ultimates Vol 1 & 2, but I like him in the Ultimate Universe. Something I used to read frequently pre-Ultimates 3. This defeats the purpose of the character. Marvel you just gave every 616 fanboy valid reason to complain about Ultimate U characters. They're all managing to seep into the main Marvel U witch basically makes them irrelevant.
You know I would have been more receptive to this if he just kept his Marcus Johnson name.
Because this and Hawkeye's costume change, and the Avengers Assemble line-up is just ughh... I hate hate HATE when they change comics to try to conform to the movies.
Seriously, stop this shit.
On the plus side Daisy Johnson as DIRECTOR OF MOTHERFUCKING SHIELD! Awwwww yeah.
