Loki & Sigyn
May. 24th, 2012 08:47 pm
This is from The Mighty Thor Annual #14, by Randall Frenz and Jim Valentino. The full story is nine pages.
Loki is lonely at his castle "and only female companionship can fill the void within." He sees the beautiful Sigyn and decides to win her over with his gold.

At Odin's palace, Odin sends Sigyn's fiancee Theoric on a mission with a few of his men. Loki pays Geirrodur and his trolls to kill them. With Theoric dead, Loki uses his magic to disguise himself as him.

(Not making an icon-sized version because this is just disgusting and unfunny.)

Date: 2012-05-25 11:51 am (UTC)Though I will say this, I remember a later comic where some kind of plot involving Loki, Hades/Pluto (from the Greek god pantheon), Thor, and possibly I think Mephisto because this was the arc Loki was stuck in Mephisto's hell, or something.
Anyway Sigyn got caught in the middle and Loki freaked out and had to change tack with his plot to get Thor killed with the help of Hades. Since he was only available in spirit form, he convinces Thor that the only way he can help is to let his spirit merge with Thor to combine their strength (I think Hades sent Ceberus).
So they did it, freed Sigyn, and at this point you know you think Loki was just using Sigyn's handy predicament to get Thor to let him into his body (GAH the double entendre). Well no, Loki said thanks and vacated nicely. Then mentions about Sigyn being the only person who could make him do that, or something on those lines.
So at least, there's that.

Date: 2012-05-25 12:25 pm (UTC)Funny thing is, in the myths Loki didn't do anything this bad up until the build up to Ragnarok. Comics Loki is both worse and better than his mythological counterpart in way: while myth!Loki wasn't quite THIS petty and evil in most stories, he ultimately became a murderer who doomed Asgard to destruction. Comics!Loki is a villain, but ultimately does care for Asgard.

(Mythical adaptations which make the villain more evil because he's too complicated always bother me.)

Date: 2012-05-27 01:11 pm (UTC)Because I have a searing hate for that--PLEASE EXCUSE MY HONEST LANGUAGE --bastard-rapist-fuck.
In the myths, Loki was pretty much a standup guy compared to a lot of other gods in and out of his pantheon up until Ragnarok, but with the whole snake+venom+eyes thing, I'd think that big, world-ending attack was justified.
Recon Hammer!
Date: 2012-05-30 10:37 pm (UTC)I'm pretty sure this has all been retconned out back when they decided that maybe Loki needed a real motivation. Notice we haven't seen Sigyn in like...forever.
