That was a moment of sheer beauty. I love how the whole Stormwatch crew here kinda just don't give a fuck about the universe that they're in now. There was a good bit in Stormwatch where Hawksmoor is in Gotham to try to figure out who Batman is and in talking to the city he says to the Engineer, "nothing yet, but the elders just can't stop talking about owls for some reason."

I would have preferred it if they got along (come on, Midnighter canonically loves animals, and I'm sure he could sympathize with the whole "loved one was murdered, gone on a roaring rampage of revenge" backstory), but at least the Rage Kitty wasn't hurt too badly.

I like to think that Midnighter goes on to take care of Ruffles while Atrocitus is off doing Red Lantern stuff. And they have hilarious misadventures and shit.
