Batman and Robin #10 preview

ComicBookResources has the preview of issue #10 that should be out today, and it looks like Batman has been keeping up the tradition.



The war of the Robin's begins this issue, but I do like these strange, new additions to the rogue gallery.

There's a certain dissonance on that first page:

1) Guy with a batarang through his head.
2) Guy whose face has basically been smashed in and horribly disfigured.
3) Punk-rocker looking woman with piercings and a batarang... through her ear?

One of these things is not like the others! Also it just looks like a more badass piercing.

they are the guys from the (1st?) issue of batman and robin... the ones who stole (Batgyro?) and whom dami kinda flash fried...

I guess she's got some in her neck, too? But, again, it just looks like a slightly-more-extreme set of piercings.

I think those things in her neck are supposed to be Batman's gauntlet spikes that he fired at her The Dark Knight style in order to stop her from shooting somebody.

Pfft! We can't have a woman who's been disfigured! That might make her conventionally unattractive!

There's also the tubby guy next to piercing lady who, as far as we can see, just got tied up and left hanging by Bats. I guess he could have some sort of horrible injury from hanging there while weighing so much, but...

I will never stop laughing at the face the guy is making after he smacked himself in the head with the batarang. Also, the girl with Batman's glove spikes stuck in her is just stupid. Like, did she just leave them in after she got hit? She never thought to herself, "Hey, maybe I should take these things out?" Hurm. Plus she's covered in piercings anyways, so I'm assuming she left them in cause she likes them, so it makes no sense for her to be in this group that have been "twisted and broken" by Batman.

I love how he blurts out in the middle of a sentence, for no reason, "I will drown all the goldfish."

Lamest villains. Terribly underwhelming. Come on Tomasi where is your Nightwing era magic?

i don't think they are the villains perse... actually this kind reminds me of an old episode of BTAS where Mad Hatter is using his powers to create these horrendous villains to occupy them..

note, not sure your use of the word lame is in accordance with our rules....

Actually it was the Joker. He had stolen the Hatters tech to ruin three comedians who snubbed him when he performed at a comedy contest incognito the previous year by forcing them to dress up and become super villains.

The funniest part was the third judge was a Rosanne Expy who as just as crude and crass after she was freed.

Rosanne expy: *After having mind control device removed.* OW! THAT HURT! *Hits Robin*, DON'T WORRY, I'M BACK TO NORMAL.

Robin: Who can tell?

I think these guys are meant to be cannon fodder.

Reminds me of that old X-Factor annual, where a group of dead "greatest enemies" were resurrected to fight the team, and nobody had any idea who they were. Turns out, they had all died in really stupid ways before actually encountering the heroes, mostly due to their own stupidity.

The guy who threw the batarang through his own head reminds me a lot of them.

Looking at the spike going through the punk woman's ear, it looks like she actually removed it at some point, and then had it re-inserted upside down.

Well from the looks of it she seems to be into piercing, so maybe she decided she liked the look and kept them in.

Also, judging from the fat guys posture, it looks like he's still tied up. So maybe, I don't know, Batman tied a really really good knot and no one could untie him?

This seems like something that could play out either way, so. Reserving judgment on this until seeing how it plays out.

Um. What? Is this supposed to be taken seriously? We have a man who has sworn vengeance on batman because he tried to throw his batarang back at him, then impaled himself in the head?


Does... does batman design them this way? What the hell is even happening here? WHAT?!
