Lots of things going on at Comic-Con in 2 weeks in Sn Diego, (yeah, I'm going) but here's one of the *yawn* big ones.

Entertainment Weekly has the scoop.

"Death, be not proud, though some have called thee
Mighty and dreadful, for thou art not so;
For those whom thou think'st thou dost overthrow,
Die not, poor Death, nor yet canst thou kill me.
From rest and sleep, which but thy pictures be,
Much pleasure; then from thee much more must flow,
And soonest our best men with thee do go,
Rest of their bones, and soul's delivery.
Thou art slave to fate, chance, kings, and desperate men,
And dost with poison, war, and sickness dwell;
And poppy or charms can make us sleep as well
And better than thy stroke; why swell'st thou then?
One short sleep past, we wake eternally,
And death shall be no more; Death, thou shalt die."

John Donne.

And death not be permanent.

Yup, Jean Grey is coming back to the true 616 universe.

Well, it was a resurrection as part of an alternate future, so it's not really in continuity. Though there is the whole ascending to a higher plane of existence thing that makes things complicated (not to mention I haven't read Endsong).

Oooh that.

Yeah, I don't really count it as a real "death and resurrection" if a character doesn't spend several issues thought as dead. Likewise for when Cyclops died during Whedon's run for example. That sort of fake out happens way too often in comics to count as a "death".

yeah... i think they were two slightly differnt incidents... i mean Cyclops was "dead" but that was faked. Jean actually DID die and burned up in the sun only to be risen by the phoenix.

But i see what you mean by that distinction

Not really, Cyke was really dead, nothing fake about it, it's just the... whatstheirname, alien species had a way to resurrect him and did (for the sake of interrogating him, which was just as planned by Scott).

He was killed by space void, not torture. Well, not that it's a fun way to go either.

I'll take firey death in the sun myself. Probably quicker.
