ComicBookResources has the preview of the new team.

From the article:

"As details of the sweeping "Marvel NOW" initiative begin to take shape, Entertainment Weekly has unveiled the first cover for "Uncanny Avengers," the new series by Rick Remender and John Cassaday that pits a combined team of X-Men and Avengers against a reawakened Nazi-loving, mutant-hating Red Skull.

Although Marvel already revealed the "Uncanny Avengers" team will include Captain America, Wolverine, Thor and Havok, Cassaday's art fills out the team roster with Scarlet Witch and Rogue."

So much for the story possibilities of the X-school and X-factor.

and I am really getting a "90's revenge/X-treme team vibe".

why is that? i don;t know... this seems pretty cool actually... though HOW the X-Men and Avengers are going to work together after AVX i don't know...

I was actually hoping that Cyclops would have been on the team so that could be addressed. But as it is the team is half X-Men and half Avengers if you ignore Wolverine's dual membership.

It's not the teams, it's the art and the outfits. Thor looks like he's been dipped in the 90's pool with spiked bracer, Wanda seems to be wearing leather wear, Rogue has on a very old version of her costume, Havoc's head looks like it's ribbed for your pleasure and Cap is a mash of movieverse/ultimate. Wolverine seems to be the only one who came out unscathed.

With Cap Imma just convince myself it's the art.

I disagree. I've enjoyed the Bendisvengers for a few years, now, and I think it was time for a change. And based on what Remender's been doing with Uncanny X-Force, I don't think you could pick someone better. I'm more interested in this than anything Hickman might be doing.

You know, I like all of these people individually, but this team leaves me utterly cold. It feels so artificial, as if there's no particular reason why these six out of all of the X-Men and Avengers should be on a team together, except for the fact that they're all relatively popular. The last team that struck me as this bad was Bendis' original New Avengers. So I suppose that means this will be successful out of all proportion to the quality of the writing.

The only one that's kinda weird to me is Havok. I don't really have anything against the character, but from what, admittedly little I've seen, there's really nothing interesting about him.

...what have you seen of him?

He's a dude who wields an insane amount of power he can only use in very limited ways who has an intense inferiority complex. He's very good when he's in a leadership role, but he tends not to gravitate towards leadership roles because he feels like he's competing with his brother when he's in one. He's a lot like Cyclops, but he doesn't want to be because he sees how deeply unhappy Cyclops' decisions make him.

Sorry, but I love Havok and I clearly need to post more stuff with him in this community.

He's been in a lot of stuff. He was one of the only dude members of the team for a while, he ran the second X-Factor team, he had a series were he lead an alternate reality version of the X-men that included a vampire Storm and a demonic Angel.

Augh, there's this scene I love before Inferno in which he and Madelyne are bonding over their respective love-hate relationships towards Scott. She still loves Scott, but hates him for abandoning her and their baby in their time of need. Havok loves Scott, but hates being compared to him and what he did to his wife, which makes him feel guilty because he's starting to fall for Madelyne. It's a great scene.

I need to post more stuff with him.

Ostensibly, there's no reasons the original Avengers lineup should have been on a team together. Jack and Stan just thought it'd work good. There's no reason Bendis' first team in New Avengers should've been together, but it arguably worked.

As it is, I think part of the problem here is that Marvel are announcing this so far in advance that we really can't understand how and why this team's coming together when AVX is still going on.

I suppose that last is a valid point. They do have a lot of time to bring this together.

I will dispute your counter-examples, though. I never got the appeal of the New Avengers at all. To me, it felt like Bendis' first attempt at a mainstream hero team (after a lot of work that was more noir), and it showed he was still on a learning curve. Compare and contrast the New Avengers with the Young Avengers who were coming out at the same time and had much better character interaction and plots that were a lot more epic. Seriously, the adult Avengers were fighting B-List X-Men villains like Sauron and Silver Samurai, while the kids were taking on Kang the Conqueror and getting caught in the crossfire of a war between the Kree and the Skrulls.

As for the original Avengers, they had novelty on their side, and that line-up didn't last for very long anyway before Cap's Kooky Quartet came along. By the time it was revisited, it had been so entrenched in the history of the series that any of the reasons why it shouldn't work can be ignored or fixed.

That's how most Avengers line up start as. That's what makes it interesting.

I think it's an intriguing line up and it has potential!

Remender? I expect this will suck. But I only know him as the guy who smashed ALL-NEW ATOM.

...Are you sure you're not thinking of someone else? Eric Wallace was who killed of Ryan during his craptacular Titans run. Rick Remender's the guy who's been doing Uncanny X-Force and Secret Avengers.

Remender didn't kill Ryan, but his take-over of the title from Simone was pretty jarring.

I mostly know him as the guy who wrote "Sea of Red". Vampire Pirates. It was much better than you'd think such a concept would be, but it felt like the series just kind of tottered to a halt after a while.

I honestly didn't know that Remender did any DC work, let alone All-New Atom. I literally started hearing about him through Uncanny X-Force, which is godly good.

Rick Remender did a number of very bad things to Ryan Choi's series in a very short period of time. It was a giant mess full of fun characters going grim!dark and lots of people constantly clenching their jaws. It was very, very bad.

Honestly, I've heard good stuff about his Marvel work, but the hatchet job he did on the Atom has dissuaded me from checking any of it out.

Like I said a little further down, I didn't know he did any DC work, let alone with the Atom.

That said, I HIGHLY recommend checking out Uncanny X-Force. You could describe it as "grimdark" to some extent, but it's with characters where that works, and it really does deal with the messiness and trauma that comes from the idea of superhero death squads--and it has the best take on Deadpool since Joe Kelly and has singlehandedly made even the most adamant Morrison-haters fans of Fantomex. Very good run.

Most if not all of his Marvel work has been spectacular, it's unfair not to give it a chance. Really, his Marvel work more than makes up for it.

Remender's Marvel work has been uniformly excellent. He's written Venom, Secret Avengers, and Uncanny X-Force, and done well with each. This is a big step up for him.

I have to imagine there's going to be more to the team--maybe I just remember the amount of members in the Avengers and putting it here, but I thought there was going to be more. Or it could be like a JLU type of thing, where there are some big regulars and then other Avengers and X-Men come in as the story requires.

That said, with that creative team, I'm more than willing to give the first issue a shot.

Hopefully the other Avengers and X-men titles have some better lineups, and more importantly costumes

Well, I like about half of the team. (Wanda, Alex, Steve.) The costumes look a bit off, but hopefully they'll look better in the book itself. (What's with Alex's helmet?)

Fingers crossed? I don't know anymore. Maybe I'll buy it if I hear good things, I just can't tell anything from preview pics.

I kind of like the costumes to be honest (although I've never been a fan of Wanda's face thing). Especially Rogue's, I've always figured that someone who has to cover themselves up completely would feel at home in a hood.

* I'm starting to get the idea that one of the consequences of AvX is going to be Cap saying to the X-Men, "You know what, you're right. We shouldn't ignore your side of things. Let's make it easier to team up when it's needed." Which is fine and sensible, as it goes.

* This entire lineup comes off like it's a feeder team for Rogue, like every big fight will end when they all touch her at once and she Forms Blazing Sword and whups something to a frazzle.

I'm just not feeling this. I like the cast (especially Wanda and Havok), but this really does feel forced already. And I'm not completely sold on Remender either. I've been reading Uncanny X-Force since the beginning and it just hasn't impressed like it has for everyone else. But I'll probably still pick this up.

Maybe it's like a Nazi thing where in real life they mainly hated jews but they also hated gypsys, catholics, people of colour, etc, then in the MU mutants come under that category. It'd be a trend that would make sense to me anyway.
