Okay, by his very existence, Alfred Pennyworth generates a pretty much permanent cloud of Awesome, but I do like this sequence from the Tomasi run of Nightwing...
Whilst rescuing a damsel in distress in Gotham (rather than, y'know, being one) and leaving her at a safe-house, Dick has been shot several times, and is only able to make it back to the Batcave because his hang-glider has an autopilot.
He crashes onto the floor of the Batcave, and Alfred races down to meet him.

Whilst Alfred gives him another shot of Lidocaine, they have a little chat about Bruce being gone for real (this is just as RIP was happening, and no, I have no idea where it fits into continuity).

Now the surgery and treatment (And associated snark) is indeed awesome but it's those last couple of pages that makes it a crowning moment of awesome to me. Alfred is exhausted, and stressed out, but never forgets that this isn't just Nightwing, idol of millions, he's looking after, but the child he helped raise; Dick Grayson. Robin, Nightwing, it doesn't matter, this boy has been like a son to him, and sometimes a parent needs to hold their child's hand as much for their own reassurance as the child's.
Of course, Dick being a member of the Batclan and all means....

You can just imagine the look on Alfred's face right there, can't you? A combination of annoyance, forbearance and pride.
