Thrid Cover for All-New X-Men Revealed at Fan Expo (spoilers)

And, of course, it also reveals the fate of certain key characters in the wake of Avengers vs. X-Men as well.  So, to date, we've got this cover showing the time-displaced original X-Men:



Then this cover showing the folks from Wolverine and the X-Men (and the woman in the background is apparently NOT Rachel Summers according to Bendis):



And We now have THIS cover which shows what's left of...Uncanny X-Men's Extinction Team:



Which means I guess it's safe to assume that after not only will both Cyclops and Emma Frost still be alive (which now really doesn't look good for a certain bald-headed telepath), but, along Magneto and Magik (no idea who the guy is behind them), I suppose this now makes the Extinction Team the "All-New Dark X-Men."  Or more or less the "All-New Brotherhood of Evil Mutants."

Who are these people in the background? Does each team get a signature human civilian? Are they fans who one the "hang with the team of mutants!" prize?

I think Bendis said that he was introducing a lot of new mutant characters in All-New X-men, I guess these are two of them.

Well, that's good--if he's going to be playing with the REALLY old toys it's probably a good idea to balance it out by offering some new ones.

I can't help wondering if they're ever going to add in the protaganists from X-men destiny. The game was short as hell, but I liked that characters. They had potential.

Yeah--the First Class is all like "WTF is this shit?!" The W&TXM team's like, "Oh this is fucked." The Extinction Team, especially Magik, Cyclops and Emma are like, "...Yeah, we fucked up."

I was wondering that, too. For someone who has access to all the combined knowledge and skills of the X-Men he's underused. You would think that all those smarts would make him one of the most brilliant geniuses on the planet what with knowing everything EVERY X-Person knows.

Present X-Men: "Well, Jean, you die. Get cloned. Become possessed and kill billions. Have three kids from alternative timelines that you don't get to raise so they just come to you as angsty adults. Rocky marriage. A few alternative timelines. You'll watch countless allies die. You die again. And then again. Then ascend or something. These are just the major highlights by the way..."

As for those random people? Is one Rachel Grey? For the other guy... lord who knows? So many X-People these days. Seems every writer insists on trying to create the next great X-Character, where sadly 99% of them sorta just flitter away.

Past Cyclops (after being told he cheated on Jean with Emma Frost, became a mutant seperatist leader who ran his own micro-nation and is allied with his arch-enemy Magneto): "No...it's not true! That's impossible!"

Past Beast (after meeting his furry, feline future-self): "Oh my stars and garters. What in the world was I thinking?"

Past Angel (after learning how he became Archangel and how his future self now has amnesia): "What the f***?!"

Past Iceman (after being told he's an Omega-level mutant and currently dating Kitty Pryde): "Awesome!"

hrmm... no Colossus. I know he isn't well liked on s_d, but he's my favorite (when written correctly). I'm guessing after the character assassination, there wasn't much left to do with him but toss him in limbo or kill him off.

It's sad that the only genuinely "nice" guy left on any of the teams is Beast. No Kurt, no Piotr. Glad I dropped this a year ago... it hurts too much to see what they've done to characters I spent almost three decades loving.

I remember when Wolverine was the outsider trying to fit in, not the personality template for the team. They've killed off or twisted beloved characters for cheap ratings increases that pay off less each time and seem desperate to undo the damage, but they lack the tools to do it.

I don't think Cyclops's team will be the new Brotherhood. I think they will the same team as they have always been. Though I'm curious as to where Colossus is.
