I think so too. Remember when Whedon was doing the Cure storyline and we got preview pages showing Jean when that was just Scott dreaming as he was knocked out. This page looks pretty surreal (altho if real then it could explain the new helmet thing he has in one of the promo pics) so I'm thinking it's a dream.

It's not Richard Rider, he's still missing in action in the Cancerverse. It's the new Nova Corps member Sam Alexander. The same one that is seen in Ultimate Spider-Man.

There is no confirmation if Sam Alexander is acting as the new Nova Prime. Not that I am aware of, so I could have missed it if that is the case.

There's no information about Sam Alexander at all, actually. Which is pretty frustrating, since his existence flies in the face of how Rich died until we get *something*.

What little we do know about him is actually from interviews. As it is his use in the comics have been almost none since Point One. Despite the creative staff at Marvel raving on about him and how we can expect big things from him.

Really I rather wished they used Robert Rider or brought Richard back. Mind you they still haven't explained how Thanos, Starlord and Drax are back.

Yeah the lack of any explanation on how they're back makes one wonder if Bendis just doesn't even know Thanos Imperative happened.

Drax coming back doesn't bother me *quite* as much, since he wasn't necessarily trapped in the Cancerverse when it died, and really, coming back from the dead is pretty much one of his powers.

Well, it's not Cyclops getting the brain surgery, since he's on at least one of the X-Teams. At a guess it's someone that Cyclops "dealt with" in Phoenix mode being turned into a weapon.

I dislike this more for how it seems to harm or otherwise diminish previous, BETTER stories. Making Scott into the Phoenix just seems...I dunno, tragic. But not in the way the writers intended.

Whoa. Damn, that's a literal lobotomy there. They actually removed that guy's frontal lobe and replaced it with tech. (In contrast, the classic lobotomy involves only severing the prefrontal cortex from the rest of the brain).

More likely it's someone who either was smacked around by PhoenixCyclops and is being forced to relive it in order to work up a lot of anger to be turned into a weapon OR is being forced to watch a "reality" of what PhoenixCyclops is doing/has done to become a brainwashed weapon. Either way, this doesn't look comfortable.
