Marvel Now: Meet the new Thunderbolts
Sep. 12th, 2012 02:30 pm
And here's the Newsarama article about the new title, which will be by Daniel Way and Steve Dillon.
PS: why does Flash Thompson's tag have Anti-Venom? Eddie was the only one who used that name.

Date: 2012-09-12 06:51 pm (UTC)Firstly, keep the fucking Thunderbolts as the "redemption" team. All these change ups is probably why the book can't do as well as they'd like.
Secondly, I love blacks ops/wetworks team but come the fuck on, its no fun when they're composed of nigh-unbeatable A-Listers who have such in-trenched characterizations can't be played with and/or surrounded by characters that they can't play off of. If your going to make T-Bolts a Black Ops book, at least provide some compelling yet little used characters (which is IMO what the Diggle!Bolts was aiming for).

Date: 2012-09-12 07:52 pm (UTC)Right now most of the Thunderbolts are stuck travelling through time and the government has replaced them with the new Dark Avengers. The title is basically divided between the two groups, and at the end there's going to be a big fight between them and then the Thunderbolts are leaving the book, though Moonstone is going to be joining the Dark Avengers.

Date: 2012-09-12 07:57 pm (UTC)1) How they're using the Thunderbolts title.
2) It's written by Daniel Way, whose runs on Wolverine and Deadpool were pretty much steaming piles of crap.

Date: 2012-09-12 09:52 pm (UTC)After Ellis I think it was Diggle for a bit? With all those D and F listers? It wasn't badly written or drawn but it just didn't feel the same.
Parker's Cagebolts were fun though, but I gave up on following after the time travel business started.

Date: 2012-09-12 09:15 pm (UTC)I both like and dislike the Punisher on this team. On the one hand I feel like Frank is best left in his own corner to do whatever (mostly murder mobsters) but if he's going to be on any team the Thunderbolts is probably the best choice. Not sure about how he measures up in terms of power though, since he's not usually shown fighting superhumans.
Can't say I'm super excited about Steve Dillon on that art though, he just doesn't click for me. I'm getting really annoyed with the trend at Marvel of showing off covers by wicked artists and then pulling a bait and switch on us. As they did with Captain Marvel, X-Treme X-Men, and now this.

Date: 2012-09-12 09:59 pm (UTC)Why Dillion why do you have to draw books which are guaranteed to have terrible writing?
Way's Deadpool fluctuates between decent and awful, his Wolverine is just flat out garbage. I find it hilarious that the only times I like Daken is when he's not being written by Way.
I'm also following Rucka's current Punisher run, and there's no way in hell that guy takes up with a bunch like this. Barring LMD, mind control, etc. And seriously, what's he even going to do in this group? Shoot? They've got two shooters, both of whom are superpowered. They've got an assassin who might as well be a mutant for how talented she is.
....eh. Overthinking it.
