Are these the new Young Avengers?

Some time ago, Marvel released this preview image:



Showing Wiccan, Kid Loki and Miss America.

Today Marvel has a new teaser.



(I hope Kid Loki is stronger than he was in JiM.)

There is a lot of speculation that this book is a new Young Avengers comic. Could it be? We know from this formspring question that Marvel Editor Tom Brevoort  answered that Allan Heinberg is talking to Marvel about a new project.

But that doesn't necessarily mean more YA from Heinberg. Gillen and McKelvie could potentially be launching a new YA ongoing. Or maybe it will be something else. We'll just have to wait and see

(Also, we'll need tags for Miss America/America Chavez and for creator Jamie McKelvie.)

I hope it's Gillen taking over--I wasn't a huge fan of his Generation Hope, but I'd much rather see him on these characters than have Heinberg take them over again.

As I understand it he should be as strong and resilient as your typical Asgardian tween. At the very least, he should be able to take as much punishment as Spider-man can.

But... I miss the old Young Avengers. I hope they at least put Kate Bishop in this, if it's a sequel/continuation (because she is awesome.)

Yeah, I think I heard that too... but I like her for team leader of New Avengers, too. :)

I believe he said that at the beginning he was thinking of the book as more of a Hawkeye team-up book, but while she'll still play a big role, it'll also focus on Clint doing his own heroic thing on the streets, sometimes with Kate by his side. So it's probably going to be more like Bruce and Tim and not as much Bruce and Dick, if that makes sense.

I'm just happy we're getting to see another one of the Young Avengers in action again; I picked up Hawkeye because Kate's in it, and now Billy's on a team again. Awesome!

Oh, hurray! I'm hoping that the book won't start out with the usual "fight among themselves until they're forced to team up to fight a bigger threat" thing, and that the bottom scan is just Miss America getting back at Loki making her fight a giant ram (I think it was Toothgnasher?) way back when.

Edit: Just looked it up, he apparently sent her to a different dimension as well. Huh.

Her inclusion seems much less random now.

I'll be happy to see Billy again, I see Kate in Hawkeye. I feel like I'm the only fan of Eli in the world though lol.

So glad that Billy isn't disappearing into the ether! (And where Billy is, I feel reasonably certain Teddy will be.) Now to get Eli and Tommy stat, because if Kate isn't on the team (I hope she is!), at least she gets page existence in Hawkeye.

It's a bit weird that, of the surviving Young Avengers, the first ones we see again aren't the ones who stopped heroing because everyone else quit, but the ones who quit because "I screwed up too much to keep doing this".

Pretty sure Kate only quit because everyone else did. Teddy would be a good pick, but could you see Tommy on that team with Loki and America? The team wouldn't last a week.

I'm not saying that Tommy or Teddy would necessarily make better teammates for Loki and America or Clint. Heck, I'm not even all that happy with Children's Crusade. All I'm saying is that I'd like a little continuity.

That's right. For some reason I thought that Teddy, Kate and Tommy stopped because it wouldn't be much of a team without Eli or Billy. I actually did like CC, I just didn't like that it ended that way. Even so, I think it's very much in character for Billy and Eli to have reacted the way they did. I look forward to seeing what exactly it takes for Billy to don the cape again.

Stories in on-going universe that end with "and now I'm breaking my toys so no one can play with them" annoy me -- especially when the toy broken is the one toy that was borrowed from the universe as a whole.

Yes, it was in-character for everyone who quit to quit, and I'd love to see what it takes to get Billy to put on the cape again if they hadn't motivated Kate to pick up the bow again by "I am pining after an older dude who's a hero". Bleh.

Hawkeye #2 establishes that she's been chilling with Clint and (jokingly?) calling him 'boss'. And then we've got this, which looks an awful lot like "pining after Clint". Neither of which explain how she got over "I have no right to be doing this so I quit".

Ew. I can see how you can get that from the interaction, but I sincerely hope that's not what's going on. And my jimmies are rustled exponentially now because it's been what? Less than a year between Hawkeye and CC? If she did pick up her bow again because of a crush, I will rage. That goes against absolutely every single bit of established continuity for Kate.

I hope so too, but I'm not terribly optimistic. See: not addressing the "I quit because I have no right to do this".

I have no idea when this is supposed to take place, timeline-wise. Brevoort seems to think it takes place a few years from now in the future, as stated n the grossest way possible.

I just found this. Subtext if it's subtle aside, why the fuck is Kate killing people? Didn't she vote to keep Executioner off the Young Avengers for just this reason? There's also the discussion we just had about her quitting because her best friend was killed, and then her boyfriend not five minutes later.

I wouldn't mind them dumping Patriot from the team, but I'd definitely miss Kate and Tommy.

I think Tommy and Little Loki could be great trouble-causing buddies, as well.
