I remember he used to be a "Hero for Hire;" how did the multi-billionaire thing happen?

I mean, I assume that it could have been the same thing, but he must have gotten a great deal Luke didn't...

He was always a multi-millionaire at least--as I recall, he just put his half of the fees to charity or something like that. It was sort-of the Bruce Wayne thing where his father set up a massive corporation.
