I am shocked, shocked I tell you, that people haven't already posted some of this. It's bucketloads of hilarity! :-)
The issue starts with two contrasting lectures from Tony Stark and Bruce Banner about the future - Tony's is all "Technology is cool and can solve problems and the future is looking awesome!" while Bruce's is more "We are killing our earth with our unsustainable practices and awesome technology and we need to be very careful because bad things happen when technology isn't used right! I SHOULD KNOW!" It sets out their opposing viewpoints quite well, and is a serious start to a story that rapidly becomes a wee bit less serious after that :-).
The long and short of it is that a past scientific associate of Tony and Bruce has dropped out of radio contact in Antarctica, and they both feel they should find him and check that all's well. Tony suggests a bet, because why not :-).
Bruce is reluctant at first, and surprisingly blasé about the whole shooting into space thing.

But he is suspiciously easily convinced.

Captain America is disappointed with all this malarkey!
Anyway, they go off to find teammates! And Hulk finds one!

Wait a second...

Ummm... I don't know whether I'd dare eat that sandwich myself.
Finally a panel from later in the book where the Avengers in the tower are very serious about this serious mission, and someone let Spiderman make up the team names.

GO TEAM SAD!!!!
