At a guess he possibly factored in that this MIGHT arise (which would be fairly corrosive on a relationship all by itself) but hoped he'd never have to implement the plan.

He's married to not!Diana there are crazier things to deal with on a daily basis. Like say Evil Gods, kidnapping him every other Tuesday to make a point.

I just can't imagine genuinely liking anyone - never mind loving them - if I thought there was enough of a chance they'd KILL MY KID that I needed a contingency plan. All shades of ooky relationship dynamics there.

Based on what's shown, not!Diana appears to be not the norm for her people, since she's married a man, and I suspect that marrying ain't something they're used to.

Perhaps her husband hoped that if she was open and different enough to marry him, that some of her people's other beliefs wouldn't be taken for granted either, but he's not an idiot, so he has made a contingency plan.

He could have easily verified the validity of his hopes just by asking. Since not!Diana is so obsessed with honor, I doubt she would have lied to him.

True, though as he IS a man, I doubt they would care about lying to him.

Strikes me that honour is probably maintained between warriors, or sisters, but men aren't important enough to warrant it.

I do wonder if there's some sort of 'Confessor-clause' here. Like all the male Confessors in the Sword of Truth series were doomed to be evil...

Something about the way she says 'so he could have an honourable death' makes me wonder if they're going to say 'Oh, well, when you turn 20 you'll grow three extra arms and develop a hunger for human flesh and then die horribly. Didn't want to bring it up when we thought you were more human than not - cos that doesn't happen to humans.'
