As Joker tries to crawl away Batgirl jumps on his back, grabbing his gun pointing it directly where he shot her. Thinking to herself about how long she had thought of this moment and how despite all the fallout it would be worth it.

Knowing Joker has her backed into a corner batgirl is forced to play along a little bit more, and before she follows Joker's instructions to where they're to be married. She punches one of his men follow by putting her mom's finger on ice and warns Joker that she's not Batman, and the rules don't apply anymore something Joker is very happy about.

The beatdown and putting the gun to Joker's head was pretty badass. :D

Also, just so you know, Benes didn't draw this issue--it was Daniel Sampree.

God, all I need is for Jason to kick his ass and the people the joker has screwed over kick asa trifecta will leave me more satisfied than when the fleet comes in for shore leave... I might need a cigarrette

Also... James... super super creepy....

I hate that Simone is off the book... though I'm curious what editor she talked to and why she is so jazzed about it....

Why are the Joker's goons so loyal? Does he kill them slower or something if they betray him?

It's been told different ways, in most it's that the Joker doesn't actually care about the things he steals, those are just props in his never ending game with Batman, so he keeps enough to fund his lifestyle, and is incredibly generous to his men with the rest. Yes, the odds of survival are low, but the rewards for the survivors are enormous. (Since he's rarely been shown to be anything as creative as a thief these days, what with being all "Murder!Death!Kill! Murder!Death!Kill!" not sure where his funding comes from now)

Personally, I work on the principle that the Joker does not seek applicants, he goes to an underworld dive, walks up to a table of likely goons, and tells them how pleased he his that they've agreed to work for him and that they'll report to his Ha-Hacienda at 9 the following morning, or he'll kill them and their entire family, friends and any pets they might have. If he's in a REALLY good mood, he might actually tell them where his current Ha-Hacienda IS before he leaves.

Double points for Ha-Hacienda.

Yea. Supercriminals can pull off gigs normal criminals cannot, but most care about money. Riddler, Two-Face, they'll pay off but they take a cut. Joker's even more unstoppable than those two, and doesn't use the money much himself.

I figure it's a mix of profitability, coercion, but then once they start riding with him they begin to feel invincible. Normal criminals get locked up pretty often, but, as long as you don't get killed by Joker and don't run into Batman, you can get four, five, six successful heists in a row, so you forget that he's forced you into this, and start to get infected by his craziness.

Though the ones who last longest NEVER lose sight of who they're working for, because they remember Ron

am i the only one thinking that faceless man is not actually joker? But someone close to the bat family going rogue? While this has joker charm, I just don't see how they status quo his face coming back and his trade marked suit. Knowing DC it does need to happen, but some of the tactics and the information he has...

I'm wondering if Helena and Karen were the only ones to come over from Earth 2.

That would actually sell me on this a hell of a lot more than anything textual so far.

Wait, so when Batgirl called out that stuff about the blast radius of the nail bomb ... she was assuming that Joker and his men don't know anything about his own bomb? And that none of his henchmen had guns? That seems pretty dumb.

I'm not sure exactly what the point of that is; Someone pointed out last month that Joker wouldn't really care anyway if he got hit by the nails, and I find that more true to the character than him being dumb enough not to realise that Batgirl might still attack him while he's in the same room as the bomb. Plus, again, as you say, what is stopping Joker's henchmen from just shooting her?

I get that she's supposed to be appealing to the henchmen's self-interest rather than the Joker's (if he gets killed, they don't get paid), but this requires the henchmen to not understand how the bomb works at all, and to not bring up this question when the Joker went out to stand near the bomb in the first place.

Well, to be fair, questioning the Joker is a really good way to get killed. I can easily see his henchmen wonder about how the bomb works, but keeping quiet out of self-preservation.

Well.. from the violence and gore from the last issue, I actually thought the only thing worse than Joker offering Babs' ring-finger as a proposal... was that it was James in disguise...
