Dick have a business meeting with Sonia Zucco about his campaign to revitalize Amusement Mile in Gotham city.



Dick gets a notification on his phone about the chemical analysis on the jet fuel. He tracks the fuel back to an abandoned hanger and soon after he enters, is attacked by a smiling figure in the dark with two blades.

Since when does Joker Venom have mind control/aggression enhancing or something, properties? I thought it was usually just poison.

Usually it is. Obviously this batch is different.

It just irks me because it seems to play into the idea that the Joker can just do anything, and it's not an idea that I particularly like. I mean, the whole reason superheroes have different villains they can have different gimmicks and do different things, so you can have Villain X provide a different threat from the one that Villain Y presents. There's not much point in having a whole rogues gallery if the Joker alone covers everything from random murder to deathtraps to mind control, it steals the thunder of the other villains.

Since Last Laugh, at least, and that was like a decade ago. There's probably some earlier precedent than that.

The Last Laugh batch didn't have any mind control aspect, it was "just" a slower acting version of the usual stuff. Everyone he poisoned with it would have died, it just took days instead of seconds.

Well, as I recall, Raja already hated Nightwing, so Joker probably didn't have to push her THAT far to want to kill him.

So I guess the underlying theme behind Joker's attack on Nightwing is...knockoffs, I guess?

There's Jimmy, who Joker considers a knockoff of himself;
There's Nightwing, whom Joker considers a Batman knockoff (maybe because of the time Dick kicked his pale, frosty ass while Batman)
And then there's Raya, turned into a Nightwing knockoff as payback, complete with lethal escrimas and patchwork Nightwing suit.

Not bad. I just wish the other attacks had a theme you could put into one word - I'm still a bit confused about the Catwoman attack.

There really wasn't any need for the Catwoman issue, that's the simple truth of it. It didn't fit the pattern of what Snyder's trying to put across in the main story - that Bruce has surrounded himself with these people and it's made him weaker; If that was the case, and Joker knows that, regardless of what Selina had to say about *her* feelings for Batman, Selina is of some importance to Batman and that removing her from the game would be a good idea. As such, it makes zero sense in terms of what Snyder's establishing for Joker to not just stab Selina in the back or slice her throat open at the first opportunity. Not saying I *wanted* to see that happen, but there should at least be some consistency.

But then, that has been part of the problem with the New52 as a whole and some of the problems Batman has recently thrown up; Batman seems determined that Joker couldn't know his secret ID and couldn't have been into the cave, suggesting the scene in RIP with Joker on the scene observing Bruce's unmasking as he tries to save Jet didn't happen, and yet Joker himself referenced Damien kicking the crap out of him during Batman and Robin Must Die.

Have they ever done a "Zucco doesn't feel bad over killing the Graysons" story? After all, Joe Chill never felt guilty over killing the Waynes (because of Class Warfare).
