Apparently the production staff knew since last year, but weren't allowed to tell anyone, and it wss a decision by Cartoon Network executives, NOT DC's animation branch it seems.

The Wonder Woman show wasn't a cartoon, but a live-action show, ala Smallville and Arrow, and it sounded like they hadn't canned/cancelled it, they just hadn't finished the script and gotten the right actress for it.

Yeah--as I recall, if you group YJ: Invasion with the first season, you do get around 52 episodes, which seems to be the norm of how many episodes a show gets.

Well, if the script involved Wonder Woman being a bast*** child to Zeus, turned Hippolyte be a sex-loving nymph and made all the Amazons man hating murders who can't even make their own weapons and armor, good riddance I say.

And good riddance to Young Justice too. I could have given that show a chance had they not decided to only showcase the male characters before any of the female characters were introduced. Even though they did eventually include them, they would never be regarded as the 'original' members of Young Justice since they weren't there from the start.

They showcased the female characters when they made sense within the context of the story, and once they were introduced they were given both good character developments and personalities within the show to become good characters in their own right.

Zatanna's character arc was excellent, though I'd like to have seen more of her before she semi-disappered in season two.

Artemis was very full realised, even more so in Invasion.

And Miss Martian was fleshed out far, FAR better than you would have thought from just her initial few episodes.

Even Wonder Woman and Wonder Girl, who didn't appear that much originally due to legal issues, were given significant character parts to make them distinct from each other and good characters in their own rights.

It's just a shame that all the character development won't be built on further, as seeing how all the characters change and grow as the show progresses is one of the fun things about the show itself. No one flumps onto the screen an stays static for the entire runtime, which annoys some people but I like organic character growth personally.

Wolverine was not an original member of the X-Men. Captain America was not an original member of the Avengers.

I feel sorry for the people that enjoyed the show, because they only got one season. But tbh right now I'm too busy nursing my own wounds to comfort anyone else.

I tried to give GL:TAS a shot but it just wasn't up my alley. And I'm not a fan of the CGI animation, which is why I'm pretty sure the new Batman show (another one, really?) won't be my cup of tea either.

I'm actually not too disappointed by the number of episodes YJ got. 52 episodes isn't a bad run (though 65 would be better. The frequent hiatuses were what really bothered me. And YJ is definitely luckier than other CN shows like the Thundercats reboot and Symbiotic Titan. At least YJ will be able to finish its story arc.

It's weird, they have the properties that would make them a mint in merchandising, and then when they DON'T do much merchandising (the female characters got little to no toys made of them for example, instead they were mostly Dick, Conner and Wally) they get annoyed that the show "failed" because what few toys were there didn't sell.

Most of the people I know who watch YJ (and Avatar for that matter) are women, yet they're the demographic that is ignored due to them being seen as a periphery one. So the response to there being a large, untapped source of money is to instead grumble about girls liking "boy's shows" and then ignore them.

News from one of the production crew was that it was ALLLLL a Cartoon Network decision, not DC Animation.

So, yeah, not DC's fault for once. :) I think that it might be because they think that they can make more money off shows and franchises that CN has direct ownership over (Adventure Time, Power Puff Girls etc.) instead of distributing the money to DC, the creators of the characters etc.

Not that woul make much sense, considering Time-Warner owns both CN and DC, but that's just my theory.

I noticed the lack of caring for Green Lantern by the sheer fact that not even it's abbreviation was properly written...

It's a shame though, because both shows had their strong points and brought something very good to the table.

It does increase the horrible feel of the Stephanie Brown curse though. >_>

It is somewhat bizarre that a character with a notorious streak of bad luck in the comics would be dogged by one in real life as well. Same with Cass to be honest.

I happened to really like GLTAS, and YJ too, though not as much. This is...so utterly stupid. GL is based on a comic series that's sold really, really well, and YJ is a good show too. And from what I've just researched, those two are the two main shows on the block other than the shorts.

Part of why this hurts so much, for both shows, is that this comes after CN skipped the summer 2012 season, and then only had the fall season last two weeks before they changed the schedule the night before airing, without telling anyone, even the creators. The creators found out about the hiatus from fans via Twitter, for real. YJ was cut mid season, and both didn't start up again until January.

And they replace these two shows with yet ANOTHER Batman cartoon, and a comedic full length version of the Titans short?! The Titans short was good, but I don't think it's really going to go over well like this.

And why are they giving Batman another show? I know Detective Comics is what DC is named for, but for goodness sake, Batman is overdone! Let the poor man rest. He's probably ready to collapse from all these shows and all the books DC has him in.

To top it off, I think Beware the Batman is ugly. I know the costume is supposed to be modeled off the original costume design, but it with the art style just looks bad, at least the scans of the comic preview did. And Alfred looked more like a henchman than a butler, way too muscular. And what's with teaming with Katanna? You know Batman the Brave and the Bold worked partly because it took a look at lots of heroes and villains and treated them with respect and affectionate humor. This partnership doesn't make an iota of sense for a whole show. A few episodes, yes, but a whole show?!

I'm done with DC Nation. I am. At least we got to see Larfleeze. But honestly, whoever it was at CN that thought this was a good idea, I hope they get fired. Ditto if anybody at DC had anything to do with this.
