Angel's currently a vegetable because his mind's overcrowded with souls: His own, Giles's soul, and Angelus's un-soul. While Faith and Giles's aunts hold a seance-like ceremony to draw out Giles's soul, Spike watches over Angel to make sure Angelus doesn't accidentally surface in the process.







The number turns out to be Harmony's.

'Cause if it's the former, it's kind of callous that they don't seem to care at all that he just died for real.

I started with the early "Buffy Season (whatever)" comics, then I dropped them, but this is tempting me.

Is there anything I need to read before jumping in to A&F?

You should probably read at least a summary of Buffy season 8, so you'll understand where the characters are at and the major (post-show) past events at the beginning of A&F 1.
