Perhaps the death-resurrection did even worse damage, if they weren't removed.

As a side note, I'd feel sorry for Lady Bullseye if she weren't so fanatically dedicated to caring for the guy. Having to open up that giant sweat-filled Iron Lung to change his bedpan and tube-feed him must be strenuous on the ol' nostrils.
