While I actually llke JJJ's actions blowing up in his face, it still feels like a copout and hopefully this Spider-Island business will lead to the inevitable fall of Spock when he starts to overreach.
I kinda wonder if there was some "Wouldn't it be cool if...?" discussion when the villains were having beer back in the day and if Smythe heard it from Ock or something.
Once Otto gets kicked out of Peter's body. And he will. He should definitely carry on this whole Anti Hero business. Probably grow himself a new younger body to keep up, too.
And once again, Jonah, because of his own narrow-mindedness, gets hoisted by his own petard yet again. Seems like a safe bet to assume that when Peter Parker does come back, Jonah's going to wind up getting arrested and impeached for his complicity with Doc Ock. And it looks like SpOck is one more step closer in turning New York City into his own little police state.
This issue doesn't have much of a "Here's a continuity-happy explanation of why the Scorpion hates J. Jonah Jameson" that I was expecting, especially from Dan Slott. The Scorpion does a quick "You're the real monster here!" but that's about it. Not even "It's your fault I was stuck in that suit for so long!"
Well the art looks pretty decent, but at this point Ock is so obviously evil that it seems clear that they're not actually going to do a real redemption storyline.
And as an outsider, just following the book from the sidelines, it makes this whole direction feel like it's outstayed its welcome. I could stand an arc of Ock trying to be heroic but still being kind of evil and amoral, but at this point it feels like it's been going on forever.
That was...actually enjoyable...although it seems this is officially the countdown to the end...to which it seems SpOck is going heel again..which I hope he doesn't. Want to see him and that woman (her name escapes me but she's a little person and incredibly smart herself) he's been seeing to work out..but without the deception.
I do like the interplay between those two, but frankly I'd be uncomfortable with Ock entering into any sort of romantic relationship while in Peter's body.
Like, even if Ock was 100% honest about who he is/was and the other person was okay with that, it's still not his body to use really. He took over Peter's body by force, so I feel like there'd be something really gross in regards to anything happening, since it wouldn't be something that Peter consent to have done with his body.
I mean, maybe I'm reading too much into the idea, but it would read as a violation of Peter to me if anything where to happen romantically.
