Fred Perry started a new comic recently- a steampunk re-imaging of Star Wars!




As one can tell from the opening, while it's clearly based on SW, the plots don't match exactly- there's no Death Star, just a steampunk technology armsrace, which, to those living there, is bad enough with the Hegemony holding the edge...




Duchess Imoen gets to a cargo ship piloted by Captain Hansel Lowe, which is soon forced down anyway...





The crew, which, yes, contains a bear, fight their way free, but the Duchess gets separated, and Hegemonic Troopers close in on her, when!



Gasp, this young lad, Bo, is a Quantum Dragoon, legendary warriors who wield incredible abilities by the power of science!


Anyway, issue 2 is out as well, and the comic keeps things different enough from SW to keep things interesting ^^


Oh yea, one other thing, Antarctic Press had a bit of a money problem due to an ill-fated attempt to sell their comics through Walmart, so they launched an Indiegogo campaign to help them out. The goal's already been met and there's only a day left, but if you want to chip in a buck or two you can get some cool wallpapers or some random comics. Or if you want to splurge, be a credited 'assistant editor' and get early releases of all their comics for a month.

Antarctic Press is big into Steampunk recently.

They also have Steampunk Snow White, which is really more 'Steampunk-Wuxia Snow White.' I'll have to do a post on it.

I thought so too, and I wonder if Lucasfilm/Disney will want to shut it down if this gets their attention. I know things like Blue Milk Special exist because they don't make a lot of noise.

Yes. This isn't just a retelling in a new setting, a lot of story elements are changed around or new.

It may be inspired by, but the story diverges a *lot* from Star Wars, so not as much as you'd think.
