Storm and Wolverine visit the "excruciatingly liberal nation of Wakanda"...

"The plan is lots of short, action, and character emotion-packed arcs, that when you put them back-to-back, build to something bigger. It's me doing my mainstream high-power super hero comic. I've never really done it." -- Paul Cornell

So there's a sentient virus on the loose, with the power to take over the minds of any humans it infects.

Aaaand... *snikt*

There's just one final matter: That Storm snuck into Wakanda. After all that A vs. X business, she did promise him that she'd never set foot in the country again.

The Host was actually one of the villains from Mystique's excellent ongoing series.

Haha, yes! Totally what I was thinking! And it was such a great title. It really really got cut short tho. Also if I recall correctly, I think BKV set up some stuff about the villain's HQ location that never got used by the second writer.

So, for what sounded like a kind of grim angsty premise (Wolverine loses his healing factor), this book looks like a lot of fun. T'Challa's done well (brilliant, manipulative, focused on protecting Wakanda, but not, y'know, an asshole), one of the many Frankensteins in the AU to provide Sciencey Support...

Also, I love that Wolverine's plan was to get provoke someone into getting mad and attacking him, with entirely predictable results.

Just look at that smirk of happiness on page 2. "I get to be an asshole! For justice! I have a good reason to be an asshole~☆"

Speaking of smiles, I like T'Challa's on the last page.

so how did he lose his healing factor? and has this carried over to the other comics?

also is that Victoria Hand?

The sentient virus deactivated his healing mechanism after he prevented their hostile takeover of SHIELD, I'm not sure if it's shown up in other comics.

And I believe that it's Victoria Frankenstein, one of the new supporting characters introduced in this series (and one of the many Frankensteins running about the MU).

New only as a Wolverine supporting character. She's been around since the old Frankenstein's monster series.

Is she? Oh, cool. What about the rest of the support characters from the bar?

I actually asked the same thing when the bar scene was posted here. See here for the discussion.

OK, as people at that link pointed out, "Marcus H. Harold" is remarkably reminiscent of Harold H. Harold from Tomb of Dracula: the similar names, similar appearance, shared career. Could Logan possibly be around a vampire for any length of time in a social setting and NOT notice that it's something other than a living human being?

I'm sorry, I can't help it...

But I miss the Priest take on T'challa. He had such a refined speech pattern...

I'm a sucker for a good exs-get-back-together story, even if the entire Panther/Storm relationship made fuck-all sense.
