I liked this issue, I would have preferred to see Killer Moth in his costume, because if you're gonna dig that amazing bastard out of the mothballs (yes) you might as well give him his ludicrous costume, but overall this was pretty fun.
One thing I've got to say about the series in general though, is that I've been following it since Lemire took over and this was honestly the first issue were Olle felt anything but utterly generic. He's just seemed like such a boring, standard issue hero for most of the series that getting to see him all grungy and weird was about a thousand times more interesting than he's been from the start.
Not really pointless; he attacked a shelter of innocent people, beat up Batman and Diggle, then tried to kidnap Ollie's mother. Frankly, he's lucky all he's getting is a beating.
So this just occurred to me, but didn't the previous writer on Green Arrow establish that Oliver Queen was already playing at being a superhero aboard his family's oil rig when he got stranded on the island? Because if that's the case, and Ollie just got back from the island, with this being Batman's debut, that means that in the New 52 Green Arrow was a superhero before Batman or Superman. Which is hilarious, because there's no way DC intended that.
