So while I won't post the actual scene itself, the following pages take place after an attempted rape. So a trigger warning for rape.

We're in full-out war between Negan and Rick, and Holly is taken captive by Negan after she crashes into his fence to let the zombies take the place.

Later, one of Negan's men tries to rape her but...

I really am looking forward to Negan dying, but I'm enjoying both him and his blatant, insane hypocrisy while it lasts! I still think he's the best Walking Dead villain out of the series.

Uh, wasn't this the same Negan who, in his debut issue, threaten to have his goons "run a train" on Carl if Rick didn't rein him in or something to that effect?

All I'm saying is I find this to be a bit disingenuous. I think he's trying a "more flies with honey" approach here.

I'm guessing in his mind, there are very specific rules. Those rules may appear inconsistent to outsiders or rational people, but Negan has his codes that make sense to him.

Whether or not he actually would have done that to Carl, it's quite possible he doesn't equate rape of a man or boy with rape of a woman. He quite likely holds deeply misogynistic views on the topic that are fairly bursting with hypocrisies. I suspect Kirkman thinks this make Negan a more interesting, nuanced character. I think that it is just a way for Kirkman to have his threat of rape without having to go through with it.

Also: I had to look up what 'run a train' actually meant. I'm rather glad I didn't know what that meant.

You may be right, considering the dude has a harem of women who don't exactly look thrilled with the prospect of having sex with him for security in the savior's kingdom.
